Does anyone else have a huge appetite? When I get hungry, I get drop dead starving.......sometimes it takes me a long time to get full......sometimes I get all hypo-glycemic-shaky at "certain times of the month"......I think I eat healthy though and a lot of people tell me I eat very healthy.......I am vegetarian. SO why do I always think about FOOD? Food, Glorious Food! I watch the Food Network Channel quite often......Bam! Bam! Bam! I am always looking up recipes.......thinking about what food to shop for....etc. When I bake cookies they don't last. Anybody else? IP: Logged |

My partner says I must have worms or a bottomless pit of a stomach. I can eat dinner and be really full then half an hour later I could eat again. I have to attend the gym so I dont turn into a whale and this way I can eat all I want. I eat all day and especially when I'm reading. I cant stop!!IP: Logged |

mmmmm...i could eat burritos till i exploded....since you're a veggie person i think that's normal to want to eat alot and often...that good stuff just flies thru your system, not 'stickin to your ribs' and intestines like meat does. ick. alas, i used to be a veggie girl and now i have succumbed to meat again. i think you should revel in your wondrous appetite! hi Nephthys ~i'm a vegetarian too and i've felt that same all-out hunger you describe up until recently....like i would faint if i didn't eat soon enough. i'm nursing a very big and growing 18 month-old too, so i thought that was part of it. Currently though, i'm experiencing a stage of non-hunger....to my great puzzlement. i'm also learning about my body's hormone imbalance....and about related causes and symptoms such as hypo-thyroid. i think this may impact my hunger levels.....i've also touched on chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. i read sometime previously here that you had something going on with fibromyalgia.....do you think this is related to nutrition....i've read somewhere that it is. anyway, how did you resolve that? do you have any resources or info about it? thanks.... desert-rain IP: Logged |

I get hungry all of the time too. The annoying thing is that I KNOW I'm not actually hungry- it's just myself subconsciouly telling myself that I am. I eat a lot when I'm bored, a lot of junk food. I'm a normal-sized teen, but I could loose a little weight, considering I am developing a small tire -.-.------------------ "Out of your depth or not, it's up to you whether you sink or swim." Dear desert-rain,Wow! What a memory, remembering that I have Fibromyalgia! I *don't* think it has anything to do with diet. I had a car accident 4 years ago, I think it has to do with that, and/or my hormones. I have a lot of problems with hormones. I read that a lot of women in their 30's have it. Well, "hello" Dr's, a lot of women in their 30's have a lot of hormone problems. I honestly don't know if I DO have it, sometimes I don't want to believe the Dr. who diagnosed me. It sounds like we have a lot of similar symptoms like the hypo-thyroid, hormones, etc.!!!!! Do you stay away from sugars and white refined carbs? Complex carbs are good for us, but white flours and breads, white rice, and white pastas are not good for us. I have to say my appetite I firmly believe has to do with being a Taurus, and my family lineage. IP: Logged |

hi again Nephthys ~sadly enough, i do not avoid simple sugars and carbs. i know how to eat well, but i try not to impose extremes as i have done that too often. so i just eat what feels right....and am letting my body evolve into making better, more intuitive choices. and it's slow going, but i've noticed some permanent changes....as in my cookie habit, for example....i would buy a package of chunky fudge chip cookies every week and eat them for breakfast and late-night snacks - daily. i did that for a few years...but without even noticing, i stopped! i never buy cookies anymore - at all. i'm always seeking good info on my hypothyroid and hormone imbalance...especially natural and alternative remedies....do you do anything for your fibromyalgia? i know it would be hard to believe a doctor...these things are intertwined and so much more complicated than drugs can define. healing light to you ~ * ~ * ~ desert-rain IP: Logged |

Dear desert-rain,We should talk! Randall has my permission to give you my e-mail address. I don't know if you saw the Juice thread but I just got the book and started "juicing" last night. I am going to "juice" every day now. I am excited about it. In addition to trying to eat very healthy, of course. I am always looking, trying to improve my health problems myself, too. Cookies are my weakness too. Anyhow we should chat. Sincerely, ~N. IP: Logged |

No, never tried wheatgrass. Does one "juice" it? So far what I have juiced is, carrot, celery, apple, orange, spinach, parsely and ginger root. It's a lot more work, and I have to buy double the veggies now, because you're still supposed to eat a lot of veggies and fruits as it is. IP: Logged |

What goes in must equal the energy that comes out. If you happen to be super active or have a naturally high metabolisim and are not gaining weight, that's great. I'm not sure I like the sound of shakiness though that sounds like a blood sugar problem to me. I would examine the type of foods you eat just to make sure you are balanced. It is one thing to eat healthy, another to eat balanced healthy.I think providing you are healthy, I would enjoy it whilst you can. Gia IP: Logged |
