I've been wanting to reply to this for ages. Please excuse the wait. Time is not always my own and I'm prodding along, although sometimes all too slowly.Prostate problems are common in older men and can be prevented with diet and supplementation whatever the doctor may tell you. More about this later....
THE PROSTATE
It is a very small chestnut size gland located at the neck of a man's bladder. It can enlarge to the size of a small apple, about the size of a small crab apple.
Sometimes it can enlarge with no other problems, but other times it can develop malignant growths. Sometimes inflammation of the prostate gland, or prostatitis, can happen to very young men, causing some pain in the lower abdomen, back, testicles and even the area between the anus and the scrotum. It can also be caused by infection which is sometimes sexually transmitted. Urine maybe be cloudy and sometimes even a slight fever might be present. The need to urinate more often especailly at night and also discomfort during urination is often common.
I have read quite a bit about the prostate in order to help my own family (husband) and friends avoid it. This is what I found in all my research.
When considering the biochemistry of the body, diet appears to make a big difference as a precipating cause to prostate problems. I guess it's kind of logical if you remember that the acid/alkaline balance is important when it comes to the growth of organisims near excretory organs. It is the same for women in the case of cystitis.
I must say that in the the case of prostate though an infection is not always found, same funnily enough in cystitis, which points yet again to general deficiency imbalance.
This is what you must do to avoid it. Please bear in mind this will improve your 'overall' health as well.
ZINC - Zinc defiiciency is linked to enlarged prostate. Soil is now deficient in zinc so you are not getting anywhere near what the body needs by food intake alone. If you wish to eat pumpkin seeds the are very high in zinc. Somewhere about 5 ounces or so a day.
WATER - You MUST increase fluid intake. It helps prevent kidney infection as well as stop you getting dehydrated. It flushes you out. Not tea, not coffee, not juice, but water.
DO NOT USE OVER THE COUNTER COLD OR FLU REMEDIES - Many of these contain ingredients that can inflame the prostate and cause urinary retention.
ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS - Such as flax seed or fish oils. Important to maintain prostate fuction.
EAT BERRIES - These have antioxidant properties.
DO TAKE A PROSTATE FORMULA - Nature's Plus do a good one. There are plenty of formula's out there. They are not expensive.
CRANBERRY JUICE - Is the juice of choice. No sugar or additives. By the "NAKED JUICE" brand.
I have seen men cure themselves of this. You do not have to suffer it. Take action 'NOW' and keep yourselves healthy and well. The problem with something like this, is that it is only often thought about when it's already happened. Men are the worst for getting to be more pro-active about their health. Why? God only knows, I never really truly understood your species anyway!
Please remember feeling well now may not always mean you'll feel well later. Don't ignore your body especially when you've been informed. Take an active role in prevention not cure. I drummed so much of this into my own partner who was clueless. Less clueless now after knowing prostate problems can leave you impotent and incontinent in the worst case scenario. Now we wouldn't want that would we?
