Main dietry sources of adult acne:-Chocolate
-Fatty dairy products, especially cheese
-Transfats, especialy partially hydronated oils (huge offender - this often triggers cystic ance)
-Not drinking enough plain water
-Not enough fiber
-too much sugar
Other causes:
-Candida, or too much yeast in the body (can be treated with herbal remedies, or just eating a lot of ginger, parsely, garlic and oregano and avoiding excess sugar and fats) - if you tend to get yeast infections or have ance in other parts of body, including the back, butt and around the genital area, this may be the main cause
-Stress (of course)
-Not enough physical exercise (helps your body naturally rid itself of icky stuff that collects and causes acne)
-Poor hygiene
-Excessive cleansing of skin or use or harsh cleansers
Herbs, vitamins and supplements that can help with acne and healthier skin:
- Garlic
- Oregano
- Parsley
- Ginger
- Cayanne/capsium
- Grape seed extract
- CoEnzyme Q10
- Omega 3 fatty acids
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin K
Also helpful:
- drink plenty of water, especially with a little freshly squeezed lemon juice
- a fiber supplement
- Liquid Chorophyll
- Liquid Benonite
- Acidophilus supplement
* these will help keep your colon clean and healthy, and a clean, healthy colon advents many health problems, including acne
OTC Ance products I've found that works best for that cystic acne:
Neutrogena's Clear pore Daily Mask/Cleaner: use at the first hint of a cyst forming, by applying cream to the area ONLY, leave for five minutes then wash off - repeat daily until cyst goes away. Stop using if it irritates skin too much
Queen Helena's Mint Julep Masque: less intense, and works less quickly but does work. Good for blackheads and whiteheads too.
For cystic ance, the best thing is to prevent it reoccuring, which is easier said than done. I have a problem with it too, but can go without breakouts for a good while if I'm vigilant with the precautions. But if I start munching on those snacks foods with transfats (club crackers are the worst for me) or eating too much cream cheese or chocolate, I know what to expect by the following week.
