Hey everyone!

I would greatly appreciate some advice about activating/opening/healing the root/1st chakra. I have been recently working on my chakras and have found my root chakra to be terribly out of shape. Facing this in myself has helped me to realize and see many things about myself...but i feel I am up against a wall! I am having an extremely difficult time opening and stabalizing my root chakra

Upon meditating upon the first chakra, I found that I have a major wall up, and that this wall is my feelings of complete seperateness...that is, i do not have any group or tribal identity, which I have read is essential to the root chakra. Not only do I not have 'group identity', but I have to desire to develope it either..no desire to truely belong to a person/group. I also have little desire to truely mother my spirit...it is a feeling of undeservedness. I rationally understand this feeling, but integrating this rationality into my emotional body is challenging...

I believe that these feelings stem from early abandonment by my father..he was very abusive and left when I was two years old (at the urging of my mother). At the age of nine my mother remarried and my stepfather adopted me...over the next year i endured sever psychological abuse and sexual molestation. When i was 13 my mother and i escaped the marraige and for the past five years I have embarked on a spiritual journey to liberate myself from the pain and heal my spirit...quite and adventure! But now I find myself against another wall. It is not like me to ask for advice about spiritual/emotional issues, but right now I feel it is appropriate, especially on this forum.

Through meditation I have discovered that my lack of desire to be truely connected to any one/group is because I equate true intimacy (mental, physical, or spiritul) with dependancy, humilation, violation, and abandonment. I see now how this is interfering with my life. i am not antisocial or cold...in fact the mask that I put up is a mask of joviality and friendliness. I even introduce myself to people and give the illusion of connecting. But in reality this is the wall i put up between myself...I realized through my meditatin that true intimacy is never truely acheived.

all I can say is, help! Pardon my elaborateness, I only spoke about my past in case it would be helpful to know for anyone who would like to help.. and though I don't expect anyone to really 'answer and solve' my questions, a little guidence/ advice would be so wonderful. I suppose this extends a little beyond the root chakra, but it is meditating on this chakra that I have come to face such issues. Thank you all for listening to my plight

Love,
TMC

I am sorry to hear your story.... and brave you for being so open and honest.

In the past, I often used to get a blocked base chakra and it would affect two things...my ability to let go totally sexually and also my ability to feel grounded.

The way I balanced this out, was to visit a Shaman healer, who literally pulled all the past negative stuff out of me and allowed me to "let go". I have also done a lot of work on myself with grounding exercises and stuff....and have been to lots of other healers, but must say that the Shaman healer was brilliant.

And now....I am not blocked anymore and feel I wont be again!!!

Good luck and if there is anything I can do to help, just ask...

Mystery, cheers to you for your braveness and your maturity. It's hard to face yourself. Not everyone can do it.

The root chakra is perhaps the most important chakra because itis the source of energy for all the other chakras. If root is not functioning well, neither will the others. Root chakra meditations are probably the must frustrating meditations that I have encountered.

Do you have the option to join a support group for women who were abused/molested as children? I think this would not only offer you a sense of "community", but would bolster your self esteem, confidence, and allow you to connect with others. To feel like you aren't alone. 1/4 women are molested, you aren't the only one.

I commend your bravery in posting here, and in your spiritual journey.

Thank you sue g and BlueRoamer, for your words of support and encouragement

sue g- How interesting that you should mention a shaman healer to help me out, because I recently met a woman who says she is working with a shaman healer that she met and that he has helped her incredibly. She invited me to go to a meditation, but I was never able to and I became so busy that I completely forgot about it.

BlueRoamer -What a great idea to join a group for abused women/children.. I hadn't even thought of that. I will look into something like that! A support group could be a great medium for healing.

Love,
TMC

Hey themysteryclub!

Im sorry to hear that you have suffered and are still struggling.
You mention the root chakra in order to get you grounded and balanced here in this world.
And what I think of, is that, even though your root chakra may be ungrounded, it could be important to work on issues in you that causes you to be like this, before going on the root chakra.
My advice to you after my own AMAZING experience with this, is to get a gemstone necklace called Lapis Lazuli.
It affects the 6th chakra and unites heart and mind.
When I first started to wear this, I immediatly felt powerful and secure, it brings YOU OUT.
I wish more people would feel the divineness of gemstones, how they heal on the deep mental/emotional/physical level and bring life and balance.

Good luck

thanks all again for being so receptive... It is truely helpful to be able to be received with love about such things.

Anita41- Thank you for the suggestion! I have recently begun to study crystal therapy and it has helped me immensly. I will tell you a small interesting story:
My mom actually has a lapis lazuli necklace and one day I borrowed it to wear during the day. I spent the entire day picking up job applications, and the necklace broke! I was very dissapointed, and I put it in a little built-in-compartment in my car. The caparment has a lid, and since I put in in there, I haven't thought of it since! (at least until you brought it up) The universe has probably insured a bit of protection and 'help' by having me place it in my car . I also wear a peice of amber to help ground me and reduce depression, and my mom just gave me an peice of amethyst on a string to wear as a necklace.

This has been a difficult road indeed, but one 'thought' that has kept me going through the most difficult times is that I certainly wouldn't be the person I am today had I not gone through what I did..and I wouldn't change my past, because I believe the higher power has a purpose for everything, and like pixelpixie said, once I am able to heal myself, I may be able to be a source of strenght and healing for others..

working to be positive

Love,
TMC

Themysteryclub,

Haha the universe is indeed weird.
If the necklace broke, it was most likely due to some heavy energy.
I am always worried it will happen to my necklaces as well since its only silkthread, and noone can relly know when it will happen, but we know it WILL happen, hehe..
Have you tried aventurine or emerald?
They are good when you want to clean your whole physical body and release all old ****

There is a really good CD "Rhythms of Chakras" by Glen Velez. It's mostly drum music and some vocalization. Each of seven tracks designed to stimulate and activate one of the chakras using particular vowels and rhythmic patterns.

I think it worth a try. You can probably find it on Amazon.com

Anita41- Yes I have used aventerine, but I do not have any emerald. I've been meditatin with smoky quarz, hematitite, tiger's eye, and bloodstone. Actually, the lapis lazuli was on a gold chain and there were fresh water pearls set around it...quite a beautiful peice.

The bloodstone and smokey quartz have become wonderful healers for me. I haven't dropped into this subject in a while, because I tend to go in and out of the "loop". But I am thankful that so many responded.

Kamilla-HOw interesting you should mention that because I just bought a chakra cd but it is by a singer called sophia. I love the root chakra one for dancing to...it is slow and heavy and has a nice beat to it. I imagine myself in a ring of dancers, and we are all dancing on a dancing lawn (if you've ever read Chronicles of Narnia, you might know what I mean). I find it very healing.

I have been working on my root chakra and I am feeling much better. I also have been visiting my delightful cancerian pscychologist and we had a very healing session.

love,
TMC
