Chew gum. Wash all your windows. Eat carrots or celery. Sew, string beads, paint, or other activity that uses both hands. Go for a walk. Call a friend. All good distraction-therapies Good luck blue!! Zala IP: Logged |

Congratulations Blue!! You've made it past the worst part quote: THe worst think is satisfing the Oral Fixation.
That's why the carrots, celery or chewing gum -- anything that takes a lot of effort to chew Mints are good, licorice, tootsie-pops, frozen-pops -- anything that takes awhile to devour will keep your mouth busy doing something besides sucking. Another way to fool your "habit muscles" is to drink everything thru a straw IP: Logged |

Thanks Aqua and Lala!! I am still hangin in there. I don't think I am stupid enough to light up again. I have developed a lollipop habit. Maybe that is not as bad and the cigs. The other smoker does smoke in the garage, Aqua. OXOXOXOOXOox IP: Logged |

Hi,The urge will pass after 14 days. Between 14 and 21 days once or twice the urge will be so great as to get tempted to take one just one drag. if one can let that urge pass by, one would quit smoking. After 21 days, urge will not come at all. IP: Logged |

Mith~I wish that stuff about the urge passing after 14 days were true. I quit 2x for 90 days and the urge did NOT pass. Bluemoon~How is it going? Glad to hear the other smoker is considerate enough to go out to the garage. I don't know how people quit when they live with a smoker who refuses to go elsewhere to smoke, like outdoors or in the garage. IP: Logged |

good for you!!!!you've done it past the worst part! it is still hard.. i dont say this to be discouraging, but that its something that is in your psyche as a long time smoker...and that you ca ncontinue to overcome day by day. i still get an insane craving. but i dont actually want a smoke, i want what it represents, as the smell and i am sure, taste, is disgusting to me... but because i have a newborn and lots of demands, i get cravings when i want to get away.. when i want a break.. thats what smoking represented for me. time alone... i don't have any of that right now, so thats when that nagging feeling comes. i won't smoke again. its easy now to understand the why of it, and to acknowledge the craving in order to get over it. its something that gets easier the more time that goes by that you talk yourself through. good job ,i know you can continue!!!!! maybe your success will help the person in the garage too!
