Convincing experiment: http://inhumanexperiment.blogspot.com/2009/09/capsaicin-and-soy-isoflavones-grow-hai r.html Picture proof:
I've been eating soup with tofu and hot sauce several times a week, and taking cayenne capsules (for the capsaicin), along with soy isoflavone capsules. I was having some hair loss issues (normal, since I'm getting older, and I used to have super thick hair) but even with this sub-optimal supplementation with soy & cayenne, fewer hairs are falling out. Thought that might be helpful for others to know. Cheers! EDIT: 3 years later with regular consumption of cayenne, I have thick hair again.

Iron deficiency is linked to hair loss. You don't have to be anemic.------------------ "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." Charles Schultz IP: Logged |

My acupuncturist said I was deficient with iron, but the medical doctor said I wasn't that I wasn't anemic...however my hair is falling off like crazy. I used to have very thick hair and it has thinned out....I'm back to being a vegetarian and eating soy. My body is not disagreeing so I'm going to eat it until my body signal to me that it didn't want anymore.IP: Logged |

Me too, Faith. I dunnnno about the humans Soy triggers "migraine" headaches with me... I have to be very careful. Stomach gets to feeling a 'yuk' reaction... then comes the headache. Soy is also used in different forms for flavor enhancing too, I think? It's 'natural' MSG! I used to drink 'boost'; they had come out with a new flavor, which I bought. Funny story, I would drink these in early morning during a time when I used to be a church-goer... got up tooo early in the morning for me-- too early for 'food'. But just as I'd go to leave my apartment, I'd get a literal 'blinding' headache... would have to decide to stay home, or brave it. For a while, I jokingly said that 'the devil' didn't want me to go (hmmm?); then I thought I was just 'allergic' to church! After a while of switching from one flavor to another, I noticed a pattern. Checked the label, and there it was--- flavor enhancer! Sometimes psychological 'shocks' can cause hairloss?
I know for certain that "thyroid" deficiences will cause thin hair, thin eyebrows... When doctor alters level of thyroid, sometimes loss of hair increases. Certain medications side-effects are hairloss. If you go under anaesthesia, there can be hairloss. Nuclear medicine. Nuclear power leaks... 3-mile Island? 'Radiation fallout' that drops into green leafy vegetables perhaps? How about astrological aspects to the moon? (I wonder) Just some ideas.... IP: Logged |

Hmmm I didn't think about the astrological aspects to the moon that may contribute to hair loss. I don't know so how do I find out? My body was rejecting soy but now it seem to be okay with it. I go with how I feel whether I reject it if I touch it. Kind of like muscle testing with intuition? The doctor did some tests on me...my Vitamin D seemed to be low although it's at the lowest end of normal according test so I'm amping Vitamin D intake. I took iron too but I was told it can be toxic...which I'm well aware of. Eating a meat diet doesn't seem to agree with me either...sighhh...so back to being a vegetarian. Do you still have the headaches?

I find it highly annoying that these doctors don't even know about it. They just guess about things and to me that is quackery. IP: Logged |

Sabine, yes headaches... Made a LOT of progress when I found out many were triggered by foods.Found an url a few years ago depicting "visuals." Recently I've been getting the 'rainbow' ones... http://www.migraine-aura.org/content/e27891/index_en.html IP: Logged |

Bamboo leaf tea (high concentration of silica ) works really well it has the highest concentration of silica of any plant in the world, higher than the concentration of silica in horsetail supplements.Plus its great for your skin and nails. http://bambooleaftea.net/407/ IP: Logged |

Hmmm....I used to have intense headaches myself...migraines basically..but it went away when I started supplementing on antioxidants called OPC3s from Market America...I'm not sure which one as I also did a breathing technique called Kriya...so perhaps a combination of both....so with migraine aura you actually see rainbow? Interesting. I looked at the site.

Migraines signify a lack of fatty acids...which can also trigger hair loss.IP: Logged |

Thanks for all your ideas, mirage. I, too, get migraines from MSG. Or, used to get them, before I figured out the connection. Plain soy, which I eat almost exclusively as tofu, and preferable sprouted tofu just to push the boundaries of weirdness with my diet ...doesn't seem to bother me. However, I'm still testing its effects. Hope you are well, mirage!

Rofl eating bamboo like a panda. I just take the supplement to make sure I am getting the right amount. My hair is really elastic now no matter how much I pull, ex. say my hair is really tangled no breakage, no loose strands.IP: Logged |
