Thank you so much for your caring kindness. If I think of anything I will let you know. Thank you for the offer.

I try to stay strong but sometimes I am about ready to give up. It is not easy.
So many folks complain about having just one chronic illness; and yes, that is awful too. However most folks have no idea what it is like living with many ills stacking on top of one ill after another.
I have actually had people tell me they would commit suicide if they were me and even suggested that is what I should do. There are moments when it is tempting.
Living below the poverty line makes the suffering worse both physically and psychologically.
When I feel I cannot handle it any longer; I just tell myself give it 24 hours and hold off until then. Oh it is very hard to do that, to not give in, but; that does the trick so far; and oddly knowing that suicide is an option helps keep me from just going off and doing it.
Hope that made sense.
Even some famous people have said much the same.
quote:
It is always consoling to think of suicide: in that way one gets through many a bad night.
~Friedrich Nietzsche

quote:
We can consciously end our life almost anytime we choose. This ability is an endowment, like laughing and blushing, given to no other animal... in any given moment, by not exercising the option of suicide, we are choosing to live.
~Peter McWilliams

quote:
If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide.
~Mahatma ~Gandhi

However:
I have to disagree with the following quote however:
quote:
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
~Phil Donahue

The problem with most chronic disabling ills is that they are NOT a temporary problem. I guess Phil Donahue did not think of that.

I am not alone;
lots of chronically ill disabled folks out there. http://www.facebook.com/ChronicIllnessOnThemighty/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED&fref=nf

If I made any typos I will fix them when Randall restores the edit function.
In the meantime I ask that no one quotes me please.

Lexx,
I'm pretty late on this thread. You
certainly have a lot of struggles.
Anything I might have thought
of was recommended already. I hope
something has helped in some way.

Haven't seen you much, I hope
it's because you're enjoying your
spring. Yet the weather might still
be cold there. I'm sending you
healing thoughts.

Thank you for caring MoonMystic..

Having bad time of it of late. On steroids again. Hopefully will be better in a couple days. I usually get worse about every 5 days or so; and then it lets up some. But some months I get hit harder. Spring for some reason is very hard. Except for going to doctors; have not been out, even here at home to enjoy anything else, even my yard, since
September or so. Only got outside maybe 6 times last summer. Hopefully will have more luck this coming Summer. Having a lot of trouble walking.:'( Multiple tendon ruptures last year from drug reactions. My legs knees to toes are a wreck.:'(
OK...off to sleep some; I hope.

Lexx,

I didn't read the whole thread but for cartridge, have you tried knox geletin or chicken stock from the bones? I'm trying the knox G for my health problems, not certain how well this is going to help but in case you hadn't before done that, I thought to share with you.
I'm very sorry it's been a rough time for you. Hopefully your climate there will soon become more comfortable so that you can be out to enjoy some nature. I hope your sleep helps lessen some off these pains. sending (((hugs))) your way.
Snuggle in your bed and keep warm. Until these cooler temps vanish.

cartridge?
Thank you for the suggestions. And yes; have tried those too. But one never knows what all I have tried; so I appreciate any advice!
Sleep never eases the pains. I dream the pain; which usually awaken me.
I often die over and over in my dreams.

I agree! When kind of use to the nightmares; they become the norm
unless the pain gets very bad and I wake up. But yes; sleeping even an hour or two and dreaming anything is still a positive thing.
I have gotten to the point of telling myself in dreams that yes there is pain but the rest treat as a movie and try and enjoy the suspense. So even dying in dreams becomes a weird fascinating thing even though painful and terrifying. Its like being in The Matrix. The only time to worry is when things become too real; like me looking like my waking self.

So you read it?
Was definitely high on my weird unexplained wtf? experiences list.
As to the Blue Men;
that refers to:
quote:
"A Matter of Minutes" is the third segment of the fifteenth episode from the first season (1985–86) of the television series The Twilight Zone.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Matter_of_Minutes

Also reminds me of Dark City.

And The Thirteenth Floor.

Lex, sorry to hear about all these conditions you have to live with and even more sorry to hear about what you went through.

I don't know much about most of your ills except maybe a tiny bit for ankylosing spondylitis (AS) which my partner has. When I met him, he was taking gelatin and occasional glucosamine supplements along with a steady stream of painkillers for the flare ups. Our running joke is that he is the master of soft furnishings since he cradles himself with towels and pillows every night to support himself. He told me all about tossing and turning and not being able to sleep properly for years. I suggested fish oil capsules (omega 3s) which he didn't believe in at first - he's a huge skeptic of natural methods but it made such a difference that he has been taking fish oil capsules every night for the past 6 years despite complaining bitterly about fishy burps etc initially. He gets the odorless ones now but they are expensive. He does not take as much medication now compared to previously but his condition still flares up from time to time.

The other thing that came to mind is diet, specifically the London AS diet based on the research of Dr Alan Ebringer and colleagues. Some AS sufferers online have reported positive results when they followed it but the diet is extremely restrictive. I can't convince my partner the skeptic but am curious if you have tried it. If you haven't, I thought that trying it might bring some relief, at least from the AS component. You would have to follow the diet strictly and reduce/eliminate starchy foods. If you aren't familiar with it I would encourage you to find out more. Diet alone won't fix everything obviously but it's a start. I liked The Positive Pear's site https://thepositivepear.com/tag/the-london-as-diet/ as one example of a holistic approach.

I can't think of anything else but my sincere best wishes to you for dealing with the pain. My partner tells me his flare ups are excruciating so it must be infinitely worse for you. i don't know how you do it.

The odorless ones aren't as effective. If you keep them in the fridge, you won't get burps. They need to be processsed through the stomach. Odorless ones are enteric coated and processed in the intestines.
