On tonight's menu:

Sweet and sour tamarind fish soup with sea bream and fish cakes (with finely chopped shallots and red chilli) that we made last weekend. A friend gave us two big fresh fish, it was best to strip the "meat" and make it into fish cakes.

This soup is served with rice vermicelli.

Sea bream is really tasty, light and delicate.

I don't often make this soup because it needs quite a lot of ingredients. But the Giant elephant ear plant I grow already gets quite big (we eat the spongy stalks/stems - after peeling off the outer skins), and we have some left-over fish stock, bean sprouts and half a pineapple. Perfect for this recipe.

Dessert: Sweet soup with lotus seed, snow fungus and longan.

Yayyy... ^_^
Thankee, ma'am!!

Btw, I had to google most of that dinner...

I do it on school days. I usually just eat one meal, but it's huge. I can eat 10,000 calories, or I can eat and drink nothing all day. I'm like a food camel.

But is that good for you?

I mean, you'll be able to pull it off, since you have a decent amount of self-control.

BUT -- the body does need its regular stock of nutrients everyday. You're starving your body and brain both...
If you simply don't feel like eating anyway, maybe you could substitute with juices and/or fruits? And at least a small portion of some protein.

The repercussions of absolutely depriving yourself like that might be felt years later, even if right now all seems okay.

-- Don't mean to preach, just sayin'.

It scares me when people don't eat.

I do that too.

Interesting 'food camel' concept...I've always compared it to 'eating like a snake', or serpent.

Elysia: Brother google is a dependable guy. I learnt to cook from him.

Haha I always modify and turn the recipes into some sort of weird dishes. Some people from my culture are very adamant about following the "original" recipes. I like to think of it as a living thing. Let it stretch and change. That's my excuse whenever I conjure up strange sht.

Anyway....

We had:

Pickled mustard greens and tuna soup (with tomatoes, pineapple and watermelon).

Salmon, prawn n rice noodles rolls.

Mung bean and seaweed sweet soup, with a bit grapefruit flower extract for a little extra oomph.
