I will attempt to tell you how the current literature explains the OBE i.e what is it? Then, I will give techniques that can lead up to your having an OBE, if you persist with them and, also, are able to overcome the innate fear which man has about leaving his body.
First, I will explain the theories OBE's Then, I will give some examples from the books I have read and some of my own experiences, too. Then, I will give techniques that you can start, today, to bring about an OBE in about 3 weeks, according to one of the most popular books. I had an OBE in 3 weeks, after practicing these techniques. ------------------

This should be a very interesting lesson! Looking forward to learning more about it, as I have never had an OBE. In Gooberz, Linda kept trying but (to my knowledge) never was able to have one. If anyone else has an idea for an unusual lesson, don't be afraid to try and teach it. ------------------

The current theory on what IS an OBE is that one goes in to another dimension of energy BY changing one's own energy frequency i.e personal vibrations.
When the yogis do all sorts of amazing things like bi-location, they do so by manipulating their own vibratory rate, usually through meditation.So, the reason why one goes OBE is because one has changed one's vibratory rate. When that happens, one goes in to the next dimension.
Some people can do it, at will, such as when in the dentists chair
That would be my ultimate goal lol
However, this is rare. Most people go from the near sleep stage or lucid dreaming stage to an OBE. Quantum physics can deal with all these new age topics now and explain them with current physics theories. This is really nice for us, because we can throw physics in the face of non believers  ------------------

One of the authors on an OBE book asked a friend to write a number and put it on the ceiling of his closet. The author went to the friends house and saw the number. I have only gotten to a destination twice. It can be done, though. Navigation takes practice 
However, I have gone wonderful places. I have dived in to oceans, flown between mountains and had joy that is indescribable.
OBE's are worth cultivating. I don't think many 3D experiences come close to the excitement, joy and peace of OBEs.------------------

I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |

So, now, that I have described a little bit about the theory and the practice, I will talk about HOW you can have one. This is the most important part.
The first exercise would be to ask this question all day. "Am I dreaming?" Ask this, whenever you think of it. Then, when you ARE dreaming, you will ask it. Then, you will be in a lucid dream. This is an important stage on the way to an OBE.------------------

The "Am I dreaming?" idea sounds fantastic! I dream about some totally whacked stuff that makes sense while dreaming, but when I wake up I shake my head. Like I may think nothing about a turtle speaking to me. If I get in the habit of asking myself if the waking world is a dream, then I might start doing the same in my dreams. The mother of all OBE techniques, which will produce an OBE, if you are diligent and can overcome the fear factor is this.You force yourself to wake up in the middle of the night. Get up and get totally awake. The best thing to do is to exercise or something which will take you to the full waking stage. If you don't exercise etc, just getting up and getting on the computer or watching TV will do it, too. Just try to wake up as fully as you can. Stay up for at least an hour or an hour and a half. Then, go back to sleep. Your body will be too tired to fight an OBE.

this is the toughest part now. I really cannot wake up and if i wake up one i cannot go back to sleep after an hour

I have to disagree that there is ANY danger to it. We will have to agree to disagree, LEXX. People can make up their own minds from there, as they are adults. ------------------

I have been doing OBE's for 10 years. I have NEVER had one problem. You can give your experience and I will give mine. People can choose if they wish to try to have OBE's or not. It is that simple. ------------------

Not sure if my input is even needed here, but please don't feel bad or think you should have to remove your posts. I think everyone has a right to share their opinion. It is natural for you, or anyone for that matter, to have these concerns. I did when first started reading about it. Although one of my references on this subject speaks of practicing using some sort of symbol to make you aware that you are indeed astral traveling, or whatever. Say, you pick an apple as your symbol. Every time you practice having an OBE, if you see an apple you will know that you are having an out of body experience. *edit I worded that kinda weirdly* Ami, my grandfather has OBE's quite regularly. He says he talks himself into one as he tries to "fall asleep". He's never had an issue before either. One of his OBE's, he was in a car accident and he woke up just fine. In this OBE he said he was in a truck with a guy who he had never physically seen in this life but knew his soul to be his brother in this life. Possibly someone he knew from another life that is now his brother???My boyfriend's grandmother, the one who passed away, she could easily slip into trance and have OBE's. I think this key is just being conscious of what you are doing.
But is it even possible to just never wake up from an OBE? Kinda like the movie Inception?

That is truly amazing, have you really saved someone from death or injury? All of that sounds incredible, I have yet to even accomplish having an out of body experience. The closest I have came were the 2 times I had a lucid dream. Those where incredible enough as it is I would love to have an OBE. Unfortunately I get to scared before I am able to relax myself enough to do so. Not sure why, just very nervous person I suppose. I'm hoping to follow Ami's instructions so I will able to finally astral travel.
I loved Inception. I could watch it 100 times over and not get sick of it. Well maybe not to that extent but you get the point  IP: Logged |
