The Sun is our most basic identity. If you are healthy and in balance, emotionally, your sun will feel like "you". If it does not, you should explore why not. Are you asserting yourself? Are you confident? Your Sun was made to be the planet which resonates 'you" more than any other.I would like to talk about the role of the Sun in the chart, not in the signs, just the Sun, in general.

The Sun is the largest single influence in a chart of all the Planets (though it is actually a star). This goes to reason, since every Planet is held in orbit by the gravitational pull of the Sun. The Sun is about 93 million miles from the Earth. One's Sun Sign is the most commonly known aspect of Astrology. The Sun travels through each Sign rather quickly (about a month). We are much more than just our Sun Sign, but the Sun is a great place to start when determining personality. When you see the Sun, think bright. It lights up whatever House it resides in.

This thought came to me from the quote"As above, so below". Just as the solar system has all the planets, so in each chart is a representation of the solar system. The Sun, as Randall said, is the brightest body, the brightest luminary. As such, our Sun is our core, our center, our basic identity and sense of what we perceive as our "self". This must be why people can guess Sun Signs more easily than any part of the chart.

Do an exercise. Try to think of yourself as your "central identity". WHO are you? If you could think of a color, for example. What color are you? The Sun is like that, in that you may be blue, pink or yellow. You are "you" and knowing about your Sun sign will help you define who you are. In this fast paced society with its cookie cutter rules, we, often, do not stop to examine who we are, different from everyone else. The Sun should be your first stop in this process, imo. What is more valuable or more needed by a person. "To thine own self be true, and you will not be false to another"
I am excited to explore the Sun, in general,here, and the Sun signs and Houses, in later lessons.

It might be interesting to see if you can feel out Sun signs in people around you. This will help to see how central the Sun sign is to the person. Try to see if you can guess peoples Sun Signs. We can talk about the specific Sun Signs in another thread. For now, see if you can see HOW central the sun is to the person. That will help to get an appreciation of the magnitude of the Sun sign to a persons being.

Actually, now that I got a little distance from my party, I realize that I learned a lot by asking about the Sun Signs of a few of the guests. One can,always, learn with Astrology.People are our best guinea pigs
