Unlike Western Astrology which is based on the Earth revolving around the Sun, Chinese Astrology is based on the orbit of the Moon around the Earth, so the date of the New Year differs a bit each year. The Dragon New Year begins on January 23 and ends February 9, 2013. The Dragon is the only mythical animal represented in Chinese Astrology. What can you expect in a Dragon year? Stay tuned.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Also, 2012 is a Water Dragon year. While the Dragon can be lucky for all, some Signs can expect more luck than others. But the key in a Water Dragon year is to be flexible. People underestimate the power of Water. Water can be destructive or it can be very powerful...but it is never weak. Water is patient and persevering. Water creates huge canyons over millenia. But most of all, Water is changeable. To prosper in a Water Dragon year is to be changeable in order to harnesss the grandiose charismatic energy of the Dragon. More later. I just wrote this off the top of my head in the lobby while waiting for my movie to begin. Oh, yeah, and 2012 is a leap year. We took a leap backwards during the last leap year, but with the Dragon's influence, we can make great strides forward with the added luck of an additional day. Your Sign will denote the best way to make use of a Dragon year, but the main key is to be adaptable. Do not remain stubbornly fixed or fixated. Now is the time to take chances...but not to the extent of engaging in huge risks.IP: Logged |

I'm very excited for this coming year as I'm an Earth Dragon and a Cancer... I wonder what significance that makes? I'm also turning 24. 2+4= 6, a very lucky number!IP: Logged |

LOL, I hadn't thought of that but I just turned 42, which is also 6. (Going to look up 6! ~~~> ) PS: Liz, as a Rooster I get along famously with Dragons! PPS: So, 6 is the number of Venus. Coincidentally, my solar return ascendant is in Taurus! o_O IP: Logged |

My predictions are spot on. The DOW is way up (60 points yesterday). China and the Euro are also on the rise. That can only mean good things for attracting investors to US interests. China is actually showing a lot of confidence in us, and it is paying off for the whole world. This trend will continue and be reflected in the US economy later this year. IP: Logged |

I'm not so positive. People think Dragons are auspicious which may colour moods. We'll need to see actual happenings right after the lunar new year. Since it's water expect changes. If foundations are not stable, this can be the year it topples.I don't insist on the above and actually hope you will be right. Also: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/yearly-forecast/fortunes-2012.htm Chinese Astrology is really complicated..with bazi and everything. IP: Logged |

strange unexpected death in the family for me. stated on the eve, passed away mid week, and was buried yesterday.. she was a tiger. her son is oddly a dragon. which is why i was wondering about dragon years and whether they are truly lucky or not. he will be 12 in may.IP: Logged |

^ Yeah, during the year of the Tiger, my friend's grams passed. My friend was born in the year of the Tiger.Same with me. I'm year of the Oxen and my grams passed in '09, year of the Oxen. Must be a coincidence.
