DEATH CARD IN LOVE ©Sweet-Scorpion on August 22, 2012When you pull Death for a relationship, don't panic. One might automatically assume, this is it…we're finally ending things. Since Death is all about endings and new beginnings in tarot. Not true. Sometimes, Death can come up in a relationship that we know is very stable and secure… but can we say a little TOO stable and secure? Think about the recent flick, Hope Springs with Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones. They had a stable marriage but no sex life, and slept in separate rooms. If I had been Meryl's consultant in the film, I would have probably pulled the Death card for her as advice. Their relationship needed house keeping, a shot of life… something needed to end so something greater could begin, but without a lot of tumult and chaos [think the Tower, which would have been a far less healing rebirth]. The sleeping in separate rooms, the same old same old breakfasts - the entire routine needed to DIE before things could renew, like their sexual lives together. And Meryl did this through the marriage counseling sessions with Steve Carrell, which was initially painful but lead to intense and positive transformation. Frequently with the Death card in love as advice or an outcome we find a need for, or inevitable, change. And in many instances, it isn't of the break-up variety. Sometimes, some things in relationships need to change so things can improve for the future. Maybe it's the typical date night routine that you're both growing bored of, causing feelings of stagnation in your partnership. Maybe it's even the same sex moves that you pretend to enjoy but are secretly beginning to grow unhappy with. It could even be a miscommunication problem that is weighing both of you down. These issues need to be grabbed by the horns, looked at dead-on, and tackled with grit and full force. And usually, you will achieve the results you were MEANT to achieve. This is what Death is all about. But sometimes, to be fair to all my cute little cynics out there, yes - this card, depending on surrounding cards, can represent the need to break away, end the cycle, and start anew… leaving a partner or ending a romance. But sometimes, we need difficult transformation to make us arise as completely cleansed and renewed, no matter how trying it may be to go through a cycle of pain and separation. Death as a break-up card can be more healing than the Tower and 10 of Swords. Do not fear it. Embrace the change. What are your thoughts? What have your past experiences with Death been in regards to romance readings and love tarot? ------------------ "Perfect love casts out fear." -Anthony de Mello IP: Logged |

Hi Sweet Scorpion What about a love reading for a single person, about a specific love interest, the Death card in the dreams-ambitions position ? Would you say the need to change ? Or better yet, should be replaced by new ones ? I got the interpretation the dreams would come true, with this card. What do you think ? IP: Logged |

Ok, for a single I see a few different manifestations but these would also depend on other clarifying cards/surrounding cards. 1. The need to destroy old ideals, or boot old ex's out of your mind, to move on and regenerate. Might be clinging onto an old romance or a standard in your mind that is limiting you. You need to grow spiritually and let something go pertaining to romance/romantic ideals to find the new someone meant for you. 2. Possible Scorpionic/Scorpio partner coming up for you. Someone quite magnetic, intense, unusual and a little strange, probably with dark hair and/or eyes.... 3. As for the dreams-ambitions placement, this could mean that you are seeking rebirth and a more sexual experience, a more sexual partner, a reboot of your love life. You don't need to change, but change is necessary for you to move on. It might be frightening but it could be healthy for you. IP: Logged |

Thanks Sweetscorpion.I could not find the whole reading, unfortunately. All three points are right in a way, need to change to a more optimistic outlook, there is a tall dark stranger that got my attention - it looks like he is more sagittarian than scorpion (and this makes me more pessimistic :-) So if we are talking about love, death, ambitions - your ambitions regarding love are going through death\rebirth. Yes, the penny has dropped, I decided I want to get prepared and I want to try it - after the reading :-)

I haven't been around for a bit due to a lot of personal issues and school. I'd like to start writing again. The other focuses I'd like to do would be the Star, the Tower, and a few others. Keep watch for them! IP: Logged |

I received Death as feelings, clarified by the Star.Would that mean feelings are changing to something healing? Or that the break up is healing? IP: Logged |

Its funny because I get this card in romance readings and I tell people it is a scorpionic and they say "Yep! He/She is a scorpio!"I find it can also mean that the other person causes you to confront your ego...so it can be a painful card as it plunges you to extreme transformation. One of the people in the relationship can propel the other person to confronting deeper aspects of themselves/their shadow that they were not ready to face before. I have done many reading and only once did this card represent literal death. IP: Logged |

I keep pulling this card for my relationship.Half of me in panicked because I don't want an ending. Half of me is elated because while I love him dearly, I think our relationship needs a shake up, were stuck in a rut. Praying it means a major transformation...and a stronger relationship in the end. I had this card come up in two speedster tarot love readings about the same guy. I agree it's a very scorpionic card forcing transformation but I never really thought of it describing the actual person. I don't technically know his rising sign but my gut has ALWAYS told me he is a Scorpio rising....so the death card in my particular case totally fits. IP: Logged |

Coolingembers, I am sending many hugs to you!!! I energetically send warm tea with honey and a chocolate croissant to you.I have a question regarding a read I pulled- in how someone feels about the other person and got 6 of swords, moon and death and clarifying is lovers. He is in a relationship now- from what I gathered online, he feels very psychically connected to her, feels magnetic pull towards her because she evokes a sense of new beginnings and intensity(shes a scorpio- interesting that was mentioned on here)and may feel confused. Lovers as clarifier can portend to decisions about ending one relationship to start another? IP: Logged |
