After you have created your chart (perhaps at Astrodienst: go to http://www.astro.com/horoscopes/ahor.asp , click on it, and follow the instructions), it is very easy to tell what energies you use in your life.

On the astrological chart there will be a chart on the left of the page showing what sign each of your 10 planets are in. These signs are your chart energy...the "movers and shakers" of the chart. Take a look at the chart on the left and see which of the 12 "movers and shakers" you have in your chart and make a list of them.

For example, from my chart:
Sun in Virgo
Moon in Virgo
Mercury in Virgo
Venus in Cancer
Mars in Cancer
Jupiter in Taurus
Saturn in Pisces
Uranus in Virgo
Neptune in Scorpio
Pluto in Virgo

So my signs are:
Virgo
Cancer
Taurus
Pisces
Scorpio

In order to understand what this means, we need to understand the meaning of the signs. Fortunately, it is possible to describe each sign using only two words!

Aries = Identity + Action
Taurus = Material + Security
Gemini = Social + Learning
Cancer = Emotional + Action
Leo = Identity + Security
Virgo = Material + Learning
Libra = Social + Action
Scorpio = Emotional + Security
Sagittarius = Identity + Learning
Capricorn = Material + Action
Aquarius = Social + Security
Pisces = Emotional + Learning

Now, match up each sign with its two word meaning. From my chart:
Virgo = Material + Learning
Cancer = Emotional + Action
Taurus = Material + Security
Pisces = Emotional + Learning
Scorpio = Emotional + Security

So these are the energies I use in living my life. I learn from being practical, I tend to be emotional in my actions, I like to have sense of being "physically" secure, I learn from my emotions, and I attempt to secure my emotions and keep them safe.

It can be difficult to keep TWO words in our head all the time, so we can shorten these TWO words down to ONE word:

Aries = Identity + Action = being
Taurus = Material + Security = physical
Gemini = Social + Learning = thinking
Cancer = Emotional + Action = home
Leo = Identity + Security = self-expression
Virgo = Material + Learning = daily work
Libra = Social + Action = relationships
Scorpio = Emotional + Security = transformation
Sagittarius = Identity + Learning = expansion
Capricorn = Material + Action = duty
Aquarius = Social + Security = friends
Pisces = Emotional + Learning = spirtuality

So we can now use ONE word (a "keyword") to describe our signs. Using my chart again as an example:
Virgo = Material + Learning = daily work
Cancer = Emotional + Action = home
Taurus = Material + Security = physical
Pisces = Emotional + Learning = spirituality
Scorpio = Emotional + Security = transformation

So these are the energies I use in living my life. I do daily work (routines), am very interested in having a "home", like things to be "physical" in some way, am interested in spirituality, and go through transformation experiences (i.e., "death and rebirth" type experiences).

And, we can also notice which sign occurs the MOST in our chart, since that sign indicates the energy we use the MOST in our lives. I have FIVE planets in Virgo, so I use Virgo energy the most in my life. This indicates "daily work" (routines) are VERY important to me.

And now it's YOUR turn! Don't be scared...just follow the steps.

1 - list out all your planets and their signs

2 - list out all each of the signs that you have planets in

3 - write out the two-word description of each sign (mentioned above) in order to understand the "core energy" of your signs

4 - write out the "keyword" (one word - mentioned above) for each of your signs

5 - write down which (if any) sign is repeated more than the other signs (this indicates this energy is stronger in your life than the other energies)

And that's it! This is simple to do and is a great first step to take to understanding your own energies from your chart. If you have any questions about this, let me know. Great job so far! I have edited my original post to make the instructions clearer. In step 3 I'd like you to use the two word descriptions I mentioned in my posting. For step 4 shorten the two-word description down to the one word "key word". For step 5 simply note which sign(s) (if any) occurs most frequently in your chart.

Wow... this is freaky. OK I transform and expand my being through relationships which is pretty much the theme of my life so far. About daily work... hmm... since it's Mars (energy) combined with the picky Virgo, I guess I'm quite a perfectionist.
