The house placement of Venus shows how you express yourself socially, romantically and artistically. Venus brings a sense of harmony, refinement, beauty and aesthetic taste to the house it occupies. As a reminder, here's the list of Keywords & Associations for the planet Venus that we made in our first lesson on Venus. Harmony Unison Charm Beauty Roses Perfume The Arts Beauty Salons Love Affair Flowers Sweet Creativity Actors Film Stars Taurus (the sign) Libra (the sign) Aphrodite Love Friday Art Galleries Jewellery Jewellers Gentleness Throat Taste Buds Swans Fruit Trees Mint (the herb) Asparagus Apples Grapes Pink (the colour) Copper (the metal) Social Attitudes & Behaviour Aesthetic Tastes Female Relationships Social Interactions Romance Marriage Partnerships Pursuit of Pleasure luxury plush colourful comfort cosmetics Loving Gentle Refined Likeable Good taste Sophisticated Laid-back Genteel Graceful Fair Non-confrontational Peace-loving Seduction Florists Decoration Massage St. Valentine's Day Small gifts Accessories Winking Eyelashes (fluttering!) Satin Lace Deep down pillows And here's your House meaning list.... 1st House Your basic personality and energy that you project into the world (especially the ascendant). Your characteristic manner of self-expression - how you present yourself to the world as a separate and unique individual. How you enter a room, party etc. Habits, mannerisms, characteristic quirks, instinctive behaviour, habitual mode of acting, self-image, your public "persona" (or "mask") that you present to others, the physical body, the impression your appearance makes on others, drive, (physical) vitality, health. 2nd House The things and resources you bring into your life to support your existence here, how you value things, your self worth, attitudes toward wealth. Money, possessions, things that make life easier, more pleasant, the manner in which you use resources, lines of work that could bring income. 3rd House Habitual interactions with immediate and everyday surroundings, your skills for dealing with day-to-day living. Communication, use of language, social skills, education, learning, short journeys, moving about in your immediate environment, neighbourhood (where you feel at home), brothers, sisters, family (except parents), neighbours. 4th House Roots, family, home, the "ground" that supports and nurtures you in the world, sense of belonging, support, a place to retreat to for renewal. Private, personal life, home (both childhood and adult), your family, genetic and emotional background, support from the family, your deepest emotional patterns (from childhood upbringing), ancestors, your native land, tradition, the past, real estate, both the beginning and ending of life, the nurturing parent, the "still small voice within" of the soul. 5th House Play, self-expression, things done "just because of who I am", fun, creative or artistic expression, love affairs as an expression of self. Activities carried out for their own sake, as a creative outpouring of your inner nature, children, art, gambling, speculation, investment, amusements, love affairs, sexuality, especially expressing yourself through the role of Lover. 6th House Activities carried out for some other purpose or to benefit someone else, service, helping, dealing with "mundane details" of living. Health, illness, nutrition, exercise, taking care of yourself (body and mind) so you're a "fit vehicle" for doing your real work, service or work done for someone else, work others do for you, sickness as a symptom that you aren't adjusting to life skilfully, employees, servants, small animals. 7th House Relationship, partnership, living with the Other, understanding the rejected, disowned parts of yourself through projection on others, others as a "mirror" for yourself, experience of self within relationships. Close one-to-one partnerships, marriage or business partners, counsellors and therapists (people who "mirror" you, help your self-awareness), open enemies, conflicts, lawsuits, your Shadow side, the parts of our personality that you deny or ignore. 8th House Self-transformation, renewal, breaking ties to the past, overcoming old limitations, resources and support from partners, the transformative effect of relationships. Death, inheritances, other people's money, challenges to your personal status quo, especially due to partners, letting go of possessions and resources that no longer suit you, rebirth, sexuality, deeply emotional house. 9th House Higher Mind, consciousness expansion, learning, wisdom and insight, new experiences that cause you to change your limited viewpoint, journeys to new realities. Religion, philosophy, higher education, longer journeys that take you out of your everyday reality, the law, the social contract that puts you in contact with others, peak experiences, inspiration, personal insight, new awareness of the workings of your own psyche, spiritual disciplines, reaching out to new experiences. 10th House Making your niche in the world-at-large, how you want the world to see you, achievement, reward, prestige for your labours, issues of authority, your public self. The disciplining, socialising parent, parent with the greater influence, authority figures, bosses, government heads, honour, social status, recognition, career, profession, "what you do", reaping the benefits of hard work, integrating yourself into society at large, the experience of "fathering". 11th House The fellowship of like-minded people, friends and groups that share your values and ideals, banding together with others to achieve your collective goals, group identity. Hopes, ideals, wishes, groups or organisations, relationships with groups (as opposed to one-to-one relationships in the 7th house), your roots and attachments to the social world, friendships. 12th House Testing of new energies or skills, dealing with the setbacks related to new directions or abilities, the personal unconscious, repressions, disowned or denied parts of the psyche, realising limitations or transcending them. The first outer expression of immature or untried abilities, which may be successful or lead to defeat, repression of parts of the self that led to failure, denial due to shame or fear, having to relive these old wounds, overcome old limitations, usually in projected form or via "selfless" (ie: ego-denying, since the ego denied the original energy) activities, self denial, altruistic service, sacrifice, hospitals, prisons, asylums, old karma that limits the present life, shameful secrets, secret, hidden enemies, circumstances leading to your "undoing", illness (mental or physical), being cut off from the world, "a monk's life", on the positive side, when the original energy is not met with defeat - it can become an important strength, old limitations can be transcended and become your greatest strengths. What we give to others. The birth experience and the conditions around your birth. For this lesson we are ignoring (for now) the Venus sign and are just concentrating on Venus and it's influence in the different houses. (We'll add the sign placements in later on the Putting it all together lesson)
I know that this lesson may look a bit daunting but please give it a try. Your interpretations don't have to be lengthy. IP: Logged |

Venus in the 9th My placement of venus in the 9th tends to influence me to branch out and experience the paths of higher conciousness mostly through my artistic expressions. My esoteric studies have lately been gathering momentum and i've always had an interest in expanding my mental capacities in any way - to the point where I can get frustrated when I stop "evolving"! My 9th being ruled mostly by capricorn I take maybe a nore practical view towards developing my "advanced" skills than most people would. Phew - how was that? IP: Logged |

Hi Oxychick Your Venus is at 5 degree 55 min and if you use the Koch system then it is close to your 8th house cusp (using Koch that would be 8 degree 41 min). If you use the Equal house system then your 8th house cusp would be 14 degree 32 min. I would tend to think that you'll probably relate more to a 7th house Venus than an 8th house one - but may feel that you're a bit of both.My Venus conjuncts my acendant by 2 degrees. So a bit of the same situation. My Venus is in my 12th house and although I can relate to some of the 1st house Venus traits, I'd say I'm more of a 12th house Venus. Hope that helps a bit Sue IP: Logged |

Here's a very quick example re Venus/House interpretation using keywords........Venus in the 11th House Warm (Venus) friendships (11th) and relationships (Venus) established through group (11th) activities. Kind (Venus) to friends (11th) and friends are kind to them. Long, loyal friendships (11th). Overly dependent on friends. Marriage partner (Venus) met through friends & group activities (11th). Friends often become romantic (Venus) partners & visa versa. Many friends of the opposite sex. Friends (11th) would have to be charming (Venus) and possibly artistic (Venus) - or at least they have to show some taste (Venus). This placement could make them self indulgent (Venus). A need to be seen with & accepted by the "right" group (11th). An interest in groups that will improve life in some way. Encourages unity & co-operation (Venus) with others in friendships & groups. Expects a high standard in friendships & groups. Their hopes & wishes (11th) will tend to centre around pleasant things (Venus). Good chance of achieving their hopes & wishes.

Here's another......Venus in the 1st House Venus in the 1st usually gives the traits of the sign of Libra, & to a lesser extent, Taurus. The Libra side is artistic (Venus) & charming (Venus) but makes it more difficult to take action alone. The Taurus side is more self indulgent (Venus). On the negative side, there is a tendency to be lazy & a pleasure addict (Venus). Venus near the Ascendant suggests they (1st) possess a generous (Venus) portion of personal grace (Venus), a pleasing manner (Venus), & a naturally friendly demeanour. This placement helps them (1st) to become more socially outgoing & have a generally happy outlook on life (1st). Their personality (1st) strives to develop friendships & relationships (Venus). This is a considerable advantage in business & social contacts. They (1st) appreciate the good things in life Venus), & expect them. May have to guard against a degree of vanity (Venus) in their makeup (1st). Meets life (1st) with open arms. Natural urge to relate (Venus) to others with sensitivity & goodwill (Venus). Try to be all things to all people & so could lose themselves (1st) - need to love (Venus) & respect themselves (1st) as well. May try to get flattery (Venus) & attention from others in order to prove their (1st) value & self-worth. Have a seductiveness (Venus) that can be used for their own (1st) benefit. A physical beauty (Venus) or a "certain something" that draws others to them (1st). IP: Logged |

One more then is over to you for your interpretations Venus in the 6th House Pleasant & harmonious (Venus) work (6th) environment. It has to be otherwise they can’t stand it. Venus in the 6th often makes it easier to find a job (6th) when one's needed. Gets great satisfaction Venus) from the daily rituals (6th) for life. Take pleasure (Venus) in developing their talents, skills & abilities. A job (6th) must be beautifully (Venus) done. Venus has an artistic (Venus) inclination that may inspire the choice of work (6th). Possible careers in health (6th), beauty (Venus), fitness (6th) or design (Venus). Also points to an occupation dealing with people such as mediators, agents, arbitrators (Venus) or in about any job (6th) dealing with woman (Venus). This placement suggests social activities & romantic (Venus) involvement associated with the work (6th) they do. Romantic interests (Venus) are often met at or through work (6th). There also may be an emotional attachment (Venus) to work (6th). Ill health (6th) may occur if the work environment (6th) is too stressful. Feels the importance of developing a good relationship (Venus) with their body (6th). Health problems (6th) can arise due to overindulgence (Venus) or some kind of imbalance in their diet (6th) or life. Slow metabolism, so possible weight problems which may be thyroid (Venus) related. hi venus in 12th house hereprobably one of the difficult placements of venus in a chart having to relive these old wounds, overcome old limitations, this is something i used to complain 'bout a lot,but i found the answer here in this placement ,which is "old karma that limits the present life",my past is what withold's me & my progress,my past karma probably, but now i have learnt to live with it. i have a lot of hidden enemies, but i believe if what i'm doin is not wrong & tht if my heart is pure & without malicious intent they can't defeat me. As i'm a strong 10th house person (thanks to Cat for letting me know 'bout that),i just can't give up.venus in 12 th house is probable the weak link in my chart.
my other chart details are moon & mars in virgo(9th house) mercury, jupiter, saturn, pluto in libra(10th house) Sun & uranus in scorpio(11th house) venus & neptune in saggi (12th house) asc in capricorn birthdata 24/10/1981 12:51 pm ,Jamnagar(india)

Ow, Cat baby you just started to describe Gem and me (1st and 11th). Funnily I was friends with Gem first for about 8 or 9 years before the REAL flame lit between us. Me having Venus in 11th. But I don't find myself in the group thing. More that I don't understand what I have to picture when they say 'group' activity. However, I did join Lindaland . I do find friendship VERY important also in love relationship! Gem is my best friend! Oh yes Cat, Gem loves beautiful things like clothes and matching shoes, takes care of himself like an art object and is the friendliest/sweetest person ever and hates any kind of arguement. Yes he has Venus conjunct his Asc. in 1. Sorry I went on and on about Gem again! But He's just so lovely ! Great work girl! IP: Logged |

Hiya Cat I'm not even going to hand any more excuses on my interpretations on the venus signs. I do "try" It's just that everything/everyone else jumps in on my free time without me having the extra free-time to accomplish much of anything else Awww I'm still going to have to refer to you as Mercy for a while until the new name adjusts with me That is too cute with you and your Gem. Mine has Venus in 11th. We met through friends and he is bit odd about who he establishes friendships with. They do either have to have a bit of smarts (I slid by on that one) I guess him having moon in scorpio with Venus in cancer and Mars in Pisces helped me out IP: Logged |

'Course Scorp, it's all alright with me! Nice to see you popping in.I have that too, I am very picky in who I pick as my friends or want to hang out with. Rather be alone than with ones that annoy me or don't fit my standard. What a horrible person I must sound. Where's your Venus again, and in what sign? IP: Logged |

Cat!! Thanks for your time. I re-read the descriptions and looked a little more on-line and I definitely think I'm more of a 7th House Venus. I'm very big on one-on-one relationships. When they branch out to include more people, I can shy away.IP: Logged |

My Venus is in the 9th house too. 9th house is learning, Venus has to do with beauty? A love of arts/music/etc or a study of these? A love of beautiful places. Dealing with journeys, perhaps marrying or meeting someone from far away? I work in an artist and event agency as event/tour manager. I'm from Canada, married a German and now live on the Rhine in Germany...a quite beautiful area! I also used to love singing and playing the piano. Are we supposed to work on the aspects, too, or just for now simply the placement? My venus squares uranus: not sure how to translate that. It also trines Neptune, an increase in sensitivities in art? It also squares my chiron: unable to see the beauty in oneself? as well as squaring the AC. Ok, I'm lost lol Nackie IP: Logged |

Hi Everyone Sorry to be missing for a few days. An old friend of mine was in London with his two daughters for the weekend. I've known them for about 16 years, so it was great to spend time with them.Wow London is sizzling at the moment - over 100 degrees yesterday apparently the hottest it's ever been since they started keeping records. And my house (same as most English houses) has no air con Plus I've had a couple of meetings re possible work....one sounds verrry promising...yea but I'm on hold re that for another couple of weeks before I know anything for definate. Anyway I'm going to get the aspects string started in the next couple of days. I'm still thinking about how to do those, as I didn't really want to just type up a load of interpretations - you can get those anywhere on the web. My thoughts where more for everyone to do their own intepretations, that we could all discuss, as that's the best way to really learn and understand them. I'm not sure how everyone's feeling about doing that now though Sue IP: Logged |

Venus in the 4th but the 5th in Koch... and funnily both apply.Venus in the 4th is family oriented, home centered and rooted in security and haven-for-the-loved ones. I definitley spend most of my time making sure that the family is comfortable and home is a place to ressource/recharge.I'm sensitive to all the family members reactions and moods--maybe too much so.But if you look in the Venus in the 5th ...I definitely enjoy the pleasures of Life, I'm quite appreciative of beauty ('specially when he has a big smile and a twinkle in his eye!) and take great confort in the fact that I can still appreciate that. Usually do my best work when I do it just because I am and it feels right to do it. As for sex I count it as one of the pleasures of lIfe but then I've got a partner who feels the same way I do. Venus int hte 5th for me would be that I take great pleasure in just living. How's that??? (By the way for those who remember me....I'm now a Grandma and my neighbor still looks darned good!!See appreciative..that's me!!)IP: Logged |
