Sun in the Houses: http://www.astroscoped.com/astrology/sun_in_houses.shtml SUN IN 1st HOUSE - With the Sun in the 1st house of your chart, you have a need to be noticed, and to be regarded as someone of importance. Your sense of self-worth and individuality is tied up with the impact you have on others, you do not like to retire into the background where you will go unnoticed, but need to be in the forefront of things where you will be recognised as an important personality whose ideas and opinions are worth considering. Your need to push yourself forward can be overdone, making you appear to be pushy or arrogant, but in reality you are extremely sensitive to other people's view of you, so you may tend to over-compensate by expressing yourself too strongly, or failing to recognise that other people are also unique and important, and as worthy of consideration as yourself.
SUN IN 2nd HOUSE -With the Sun in the 2nd house, your sense of individuality and uniqueness is tied up with the things you value. This can be on a purely material level, where you may identify yourself with what you own or possess, regarding these as representative of your importance and success as an individual. The problem here is that if these things are lost or taken away your self-identity goes with them and it may take some time to recover your self confidence to go on. If you can identify less with your possessions, regarding them more as a necessary means to an end, you can use them more productively as a way to establish your own sense of purpose and self-worth. The same is true of any kind of possession, such as innate skills and abilities or your value system. You need to overcome the tendency to identify too much with them before they can be used to their fullest extent.
SUN IN 3rd HOUSE -With the Sun in the 3rd house of your chart there is a need to be heard and to be noticed in your immediate environment. The 3rd house is the area of life where we exchange thoughts, ideas and knowledge with those in our immediate surroundings. It is the house associated with Gemini and Mercury and is therefore the house of learning, exchange of information and short-distance travel. With the Sun here it is in these areas, and through these activities that you can find yourself and develop your own thoughts, views and perspective on things. No matter how intelligent or knowledgeable you may seem to others, you will always feel the need to learn more and to improve your communication skills. It is through developing such skills that you can develop a deep sense of purpose and really "find yourself".
SUN IN 4th HOUSE - With the Sun in the 4th house of your chart, there is a great need to delve deep within to find yourself. There may be a struggle to define your individuality on the home and family front. You need to distinguish your own individual identity and avoid the danger of deriving too much of your identity from your family background or heredity. On the other hand, there is a danger of rejecting your family background completely in order to free yourself from its influence. Neither your own individuality nor your family background should be rejected. The task is to balance the two, acknowledging your heredity and developing your own uniqueness. This may involve a struggle to overcome a sense of inadequacy which may have resulted from the experience of a powerful and domineering parent, or the absence of one parent may have made it difficult for you to develop your sense of individuality. There is a strong need to own your own home, where you can be yourself.
SUN IN 5th HOUSE - With the Sun in the 5th house of your chart you need to express yourself through some kind of creative activity to develop your sense of self-identity and uniqueness. This creativity can be expressed in various ways. Although you may not actually be an artist, some kind of artistic activity will give you a great sense of personal worth as you see yourself expressed through your creations. Children, as creations of our physical bodies, can give you a sense of pleasure and enjoyment in life and help you to gain a deeper sense of who you are. You will enjoy all forms of sport or recreation as a means of letting yourself go and acting spontaneously and freeing you from inhibitions. All of these activities will help you to define who you are as an individual, but you must beware of the danger of going over the top and approaching life too flippantly.
SUN IN 6th HOUSE - With the Sun in the 6th house of your chart you will need to define your sense of self-identity through some kind of work or service to others. It is through your work, and your relationship with co-workers that you will seek to express your own individuality. This work may involve some kind of service that makes you feel that you are doing something worthwhile and important, but you will have to check a tendency to stress the needs of others, while neglecting your own needs. The 6th house is also concerned with physical health and hygiene, and you will be greatly concerned with these issues. You may be too fussy about the need for a healthy diet and clean living, or a bout of illness after a long period of self-neglect may force you to come to terms with the limitations and needs of the physical body. You may find that such an experience will give you a clearer sense of self.
SUN IN 7th HOUSE - The Sun is in the 7th house of your chart, which represents the experience of relationship and awareness of others. With the Sun, your self-identity, in this house, there is a need to define who you are through your relationships with others. You will need constant feedback and reassurance from others to develop your own sense of self-worth and individual identity. There may be a tendency to expect too much from relationships, resulting in disappointment when the other person does not live up to the image that you project on to them. You may also feel the need to find someone to look up to and admire, like a hero or saviour figure. In these cases it is your own inner self that you are attempting to discover through another person. Ultimately it is through the experience of many kinds of relationships, their effects on you and your effects on others, that you will gain a firm sense of self-worth and begin to shine as an individual.
SUN IN 8th HOUSE - With the Sun in the 8th house, it is through emotional and financial exchange and sharing that you will seek to establish your own identity and sense of individuality. You will have a need to merge your own emotions, or financial and material possessions with others, and it is through such partnerships that you can establish your own place and sense of self-worth. You will probably have a great fascination for all things occult or hidden, realising even if only unconsciously, that no man (or woman) is an island and that all individuals are linked by forces and powers that we can only dimly perceive. It is this inner feeling that urges you to share on a deep level with others. However, you may react by refusing to let go of what is yours, and become deeply possessive out of a fear of losing your own sense of individuality and self-determination.
SUN IN 9th HOUSE - With the Sun in the 9th house you will need to establish your self-identity through some form of travel or study. You will be concerned with broad philosophical and humanitarian issues through which you will seek to see who you are in relation to the rest of society. It is through this awareness of being part of a greater unified whole that you can begin to establish yourself as an individual. You will need some form of meaning and direction in your life to avoid becoming lost and confused in an infinite sea of possibilities and new directions. Travel would be beneficial to you, especially if it is for educational purposes. The increased awareness and knowledge that you gain through travel will give you greater faith in yourself and in life in general. You may have to check the tendency to be constantly seeking new horizons and new subjects before you have properly assimilated or consolidated what you have already discovered or learned.
SUN IN 10th HOUSE - With the Sun in the 10th house, your sense of self-identity is defined by your reputation and position in society. You have a strong ambition and a need to reach the top in your chosen field, a goal you can work towards with persistence and determination. A career is important to you as a means of gaining a clear sense of who and what you are in relation to the rest of society, but you may tend to define this in rather conventional and materialistic terms. You will need to avoid the danger of identifying yourself too closely with your career or position, or you could become arrogant if it is an "important" position, or full of gloom and despondency if it is a "low" position. However, it is likely that you will achieve a position of some kind of authority in this life, albeit after a long climb with many set-backs.
SUN IN 11th HOUSE - With the Sun in the 11th house your sense of self-identity will be sought through your relationship to various kinds of groups. You may find you need a large circle of friends and acquaintances through whom you can gain a clearer sense of who you are, and give you a sense of purpose in life. This need can be extended to various groups and organisations that are trying to achieve some sort of social change or transformation. Through such revolutionary and future-oriented groups you can begin to express yourself more openly and gain a sense of purpose and direction. You will need to suppress the desire to always be the leader of such groups as you may not always be the right person for the job. You may also try to use such groups or group situations as a vehicle to express your own personal goals or aims, a tendency that you should be aware of.
SUN IN 12th HOUSE - With the Sun in the 12th house you may feel a pull between the need to establish a clear sense of self-identity and individual uniqueness, and the urge to dissolve individual boundaries in a union with a more mystical and collective reality. You are always vaguely aware that your conscious self is only part of your total being, and that below the surface lie ideas and images that belong to the unconscious levels of the psyche, both individual and collective. You will be very sensitive to vibrations and feelings that surround you, and this may manifest as some form of psychic ability. You may be naturally introspective, but whether this is the case or not, you would certainly benefit from some form of meditation that allows you to get in touch with the deeper levels of your mind. You are very idealistic, but you will need to give some form of self expression to your idealism before you can find your sense of individual purpose.
