great website http://www.dkfoundation.co.uk/BookKarmaHouse11.htm Eleven The Eleventh House House of Aquarius Element: Air Ruling Planet: Uranus & Saturn Area of Consciousness Universal Awareness through communal endeavour Sun in House 11 The Sun in the 11th House indicates that consciousness is being broadened by purposeful co-operation and team work. The influence of this house confers a sense of the need to be part of a group of like-minded people. The Sun in this house produces members of the armed forces, political activists and NHS workers. What is important to them is the sense of purpose and belonging, which comes from working with others towards a common, pre-defined goal. Unless there are strong influences in H10 there is unlikely to be much in the way of personal ambition. People with the Sun in H11, who do not feel as though they have a social conscience, will bring the group into their lives through their friends or their children's' activities. If there is little other than domestic responsibility in the lives of 11th House people then they are likely to experience a strong sense of futility and lack of fulfillment by the time of the Saturn Return. Unless there are compensating influences in 7th or 8th Houses, 11th House people frequently appear to be less loyal to lovers and family - other than children - than they are to friends. Children will be encouraged to become friends and equals as soon as possible. There is likely to be a marked interest in communalistic lifestyles and a great faith in the efficacy of the power of the group to change society. The outlook is likely to be secular rather than religious and supportive of change rather than transcendence. It is notable, however, that 11th House people do not always see the group as being the sum of its members, with the result that, private conduct may be in flagrant contradiction to the aims of the group. This placement of the Sun is often found with the Moon in one of the houses of Relative consciousness, indicating that the soul has awareness of its creative potential and is now learning to put that in the service of mankind. I'm confused. Some charts put my Sun in 12th house, some in 11th. The 12th house description doesn't seem to fit me much, apart from being "hidden", and the 11th house description seems to fit me all the more. Especially concerning loyalty to friends rather that lovers or family. Then again, I tend to take all of them for granted, but family and lovers moreso because they are supposed to have a stronger bond and I feel as though I should keep the bond between friends and have to put more effort into it. Hence why I'm more loyal to friends. But then, my Saturn, which is within a degree conjunct to my Sun, seems to be more fitting for a 12th house than for an 11th house. So I'm confused. Am I or am I not an 11th house sun? According to topocentric house systems I am. And then my Saturn still is in 12th. Both on the cusp. Aya, it all depends on what house system you are using. I prefer Equal house it's very very simply A simple, yet highly effective system, this was the method that the ancients used before the various unequal houses systems developed. The signs on the cusps then follow in order around t he wheel beginning with the rising sign. There are no intercepted signs in equal houses and therefore each sign is represented on a particular house cusp. The Equal house system does not create very large or small houses that become even more pronounced the higher the northern or southern latitudes used to calculate the chart.-The Equal House System avoids the problem with the Placidus which results in extremely uneven houses if the native should be born in extreme northern or southern latitudes. -Each sign is fully represented on a house cusp. -Debbie Kempton Smith the author of Secrets from an StarGazer's Notebook recommends either Equal House or Koch (unequal). -Margaret Hone puts forth an excellent argument in favor of Equal House in her book, "Applied Astrology" which is why it is the default for SkyViewZone. Jeff Mayo and the Faculty for Astrological Studies also favors this house system. http://www.solsticepoint.com/astrologersmemorial/hone.html http://www.skyviewzone.com/birthinfoforms2/housesexplained.htm http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=Z0nnE2IP7A4C&pg=PA167&dq=astrology+equal+house&as_brr=3&ei=i0iJS-PlGo3mygS89Nn8DQ&cd=2#v=onepage&q=astrology%20equal%20house&f=false EQUAL HOUSES “Another of the three most popular house systems is Equal houses which is just what its name implies. All the houses have the same degree on each cusp, and there are no interceptions. Equal house systems are especially useful for people born in the northernmost and southernmost latitudes, and this system is the most popular one in use outside of the United States.” http://www.esotericapublications.com/art-eso-011.htm “Equal house system is the only system that is erected in the plane of the Earths orbit. The zodiac is erected in the plane of the Earths orbit around the Sun which comprises of a 360 degree circle that surrounds the Earth. The mid-heaven is often more, or less than ninety degrees (three signs) from the ascendant, therefore it is not often placed on the tenth house cusp, but marked where it appears in the mid-heaven according to the latitude and longitude of birth. The mid-heaven is taken as an important point; it is the point of self-mastery.” http://marianneohagan.com/house.htm “The simplest approaches, the equal-house and whole-sign methods, merely require knowledge of the ascendant or ascending sign, and an equal division throughout the rest of the zodiac eliminates the need for any complicated calculations Yet recent research into classical astrology has created a renewed interest in these simple techniques from a more scholarly perspective. The point of strength is that, regardless of the originating theory behind house division, in practice at least, classical astrologers tended to tie the houses to the signs, apparently concurring with Pelletier, who wrote in defence of the equal house method” http://www.skyscript.co.uk/houprob4.html
Equal House System “The equal house system calculates the degree of the Ascendant, which is used as the cusp of the first house. Some astrologers do not like this system because it does not equate the 10th house cusp with the Midheaven (which indicates the degree that is highest in the sky above the horizon at the place of birth). However, the Midheaven can certaintly still be noted in this house system as well as any planet forming an aspect to that angle.” http://www.astrolady.com/housesystems.php Also 11th house is not just friends, hopes and wish, it could also be step children, adopted or fostered children. large organisations, hopes and wishes http://www.skyscript.co.uk/temples/h11.html ------------------ I'm fishing to get you all hooked on astrolgoy IP: Logged |

I personally don't like the EHS because some of the descriptions I get then, don't seem to fit me at all. I know it is more convenient, but I'm still not entirely convinced of it's accuracy.Especially since with EHS, my sun would be entirely in 12th house, not even close to the 11th house and that's where the problem lies. My sun does behave like a cusp. The system I use now puts my sun in 12th, but on the cusp with 11th. Although I don't entirely agree with 12th house, I've come to the conclusion that it probably is in 12th house, but gets a bit of influence from 11th too which explains why it behaves like a cusp and makes me confuzzled ------------------ Official Conor's Feeding Machine! Leo Sun in 11th House, Sagittarius Moon in 3rd House. The bit about being more loyal to friends than to lovers or family definitely rings a bell :PIP: Logged |
