I have the running idea of double whammy which I learned from different posts in this forum.I will like to learn exactly what is double whammy? I have a few questions to ask. I understand while studying synastry chart between two individuals, double whammy is shown in two ways. 1) Planet A of Person X aspecting planet B of the Person Y and Planet B of Person X aspecting planet A of the Person Y. Example: My sun trine her Moon and my moon trine her sun.2) Same planets of the two individuals aspecting each other. Example: My mars trine her mars. Questions: 1) What is the effect of double whammy in synastry and how does it help? 2) Does aspects between the same planets present in the natal charts of both persons count towards DW? In natal charts. Example: My sun trine my moon and her sun sextile her moon. 3) What are the effects of both persons having soft aspects? 4) What are the effects of both persons having hard aspects? 5) What are the effects when one person has soft while the other person has hard aspect? 6) What are the effects when i) Same planets having soft aspect mutually. ii) Same planets having hard aspect mutually iii) Same planets aspecting each other when planets are in signs which have nothing in common? Example: My Aquarius Saturn quincunx her Cancer Saturn. 7) What are the allowed Orbs? My sun trine her pluto 3° Her sun trine my pluto 8° (or let us say 10° maximum) Is this case a DW? 8) Are all minor aspects are allowed? I have seen semisquare and sesq. aspects being used but have missed seeing use of quintiles or noviles for DW so far. Are only minor hard aspects are allowed? May be, because, hard aspects are more felt than soft aspects. Any other information anyone like to share. IP: Logged |

samee,You asked: quote: what is double whammy [in a synastry chart]?
A "double whammy" is when the exact aspect is repeated between two people. For example, A's Sun trine B's Moon and B's Sun trine A's Moon. It emphasizes the aspect in the relationship. In the previous example, Sun trine Moon is very important in this relationship. The "double whammy" does not apply for anything other than an exact aspect repeated between two people. A's Sun trine B's Moon and B's Sun sextile A's Moon is NOT a "double whammy". A "double whammy" has nothing to do with combinations of "soft" or "hard" aspects. Orbs have nothing to do with the "double whammy": the orbs have to do with how close two planets have to be to be in aspect. Personally, for a trine I use a 5 degree orb for aspects which do not involve the Sun and/or Moon planets. and a 7 degree orb for aspects which do involve the Sun and/or Moon. Any aspect could be part of a "double whammy" if that aspect is precisely repeated in the other person's chart. For example, A's Sun semisquare B's Moon and B's Sun semisquare A's Moon. Personally, I don't use minor aspects. Whamming, Tim Whamming, Tim IP: Logged |

Thanks Tim for the information. <<A "double whammy" is when the exact aspect is repeated between two people>> In above examples My Mars trine her Mars within 1 degree & My Saturn quincunx her Saturn within 2 degrees. Will they both be DW? After all both are being repeated. IP: Logged |

samee,Yes, this would be a DW since this would be: - Your Mars trine her Mars - Her Mars trine your Mars And the same with your other example. Agreeing, Tim IP: Logged |

No doubt. Tim is always brief and comprehensive. He can explain in one sentence what others may take many sentences to explain. I have seen some sites using different aspects between same planets as double whammy. Basically, such sites confuse things. Thanking again, SameeIP: Logged |
