Aries,It is not helpful to look at one planet and then trying to understand how the complete person is from that. Even if we only look at the planets in the chart, there are 10 planets, so looking at one planet only gives us 1/10 of the person's energies in the chart.
Instead, looking at the position of a planet in a chart indicates where a person focuses that energy in their chart. This becomes a little more confusing, since some planets (such as Venus) have two energies.
So, we are looking at the energies:
- Mars (being, also action, anger)
- Venus (physical/relationships)
and where these energies occur in the chart.
- Mars conjunct (energy is combined with) Ascendant (self)
- Venus conjunct Midheaven (outer world)
- Mars conjunct Descendant (others)
- Venus conjunct IC (inner world)
So far we get:
- Mars energy is very personal
- Venus energy is about the outer world
- Mars energy is about others
- Venus energy is very internal
And this could mean:
- The person is very active/angry
- The person is very concerned with being physically secure, has many relationships in the outer world
- The person is very active/angry with others
- The person holds in their physical wants and relationship needs
In order to tell which one best fits the person you would have to ask the person.
Signs modify planets, so the sign information wouldn't take over the planet energy. Mars is about action and anger whether it is in Virgo or in some other sign. So a Virgo Mars wouldn't be about "worrying", it would be about how a person uses their action or anger.
So the sign/planet energy combination is:
- Virgo (daily work) modifying Mars
- Cancer (home) modifying Venus
- Scorpio (transformation) modifying Mars
- Sagittarius (expansion) modifying Venus
That is why looking at the planets by themselves doesn't give you that much information. If we look at all 10 planets and how those planets fit into the chart and how the interact with each other...THEN we can see things such as possible "worrying". But only looking at 1/10th of the energy in the chart doesn't tell us a lot.
Long-windedly,
Tim
