Welcome Everyone, I have found that in order to really understand and get the feel for Astrology you've got to be thorough in learning all the signs, planets, houses and aspects. Thats what we're going to do here, so if you have questions speak up. You get the feel for it through application and example. Feel free to post your chart or stats. I will be using them. Hi lalalinda!Good to see you again and congratulations on this forum Hi Gooober - good to be sitting next to you this lesson Never seen it up and running before *looking round* - very cool, seems like another dimension in LL Ok my stats; Sun Sign; Sag 29/11/77 Moon Sign; Cancer Born; St Thomas's Church Calcutta, India Hey, why's it called 101? I haven't got my book with me to check my other stats right now. *hehe - feel like I've forgotton my homework or something!* My father could never remember my time of birth. Since my mum's not around to ask, I tried to place him back 26 years and 11 months.. he finally figures I was born on a Sunday, early afternoon, between 12pm and 1pm he thinks. So that changes what I thought my rising sign was right? Will check that when I get home *like what you guys have done with the walls here, gorgeous colour.. a biscuit? Don't mind if I do, thanks..* ------------------ "We see everything through a glass, darkly. Sometimes we can peer through the glass and catch a glimpse of what is on the other side. If we were to polish the glass clean, we'd see much more. But then we would no longer see ourselves." From 'Deep Quotes' IP: Logged |

Two Aquarians and a Sag thats a great start! progressive thinkers I will be printing up your charts (for my personal reference) and referring to them often on board. One of the first things I learned was my glyphs, but with computers it simplifys a lot of things You do need to be able to recognize these. Right now I want you to learn the energy of the planets (what we haven't covered, we soon will), what their used for, what they signify and most importantly the element that they are most comfortably in. This will soon become second nature and I will teach you how to creatively apply this to delineation. Sheaa Thank you, I'm pretty stoked, I'm calling this 101 because with astrology if you jump in the middle, you'll miss some of the good stuff from the beginning, and thats where we'll be starting.

Fantastic! The beginning is always a good place to start, looks like it was good timing thank goodness.OK Miss/Mrs Lalalinda, just to clarify on the planets; mercury, venus, earth, mars, jupiter, saturn, uranus, neptune & pluto - memorized since I was 8, so good grounding! I presume we don't include Earth & do include the Sun & Moon? I know people have different time zones etc. so I'll post what I'm learning as I explore it? I think the best way for me to begin learning fluent astro is to presume I know nothing! IP: Logged |

Hey - I think I just answered my own question, I just found this whilst searching for planet energy stuff; http://www.astrology.com/aboutastrology/interpreting/planets/sun.html What do you reckon lalalinda? The pop up ad on it scared the c**p out of me though, the page loaded as I went to get a drink and this creepy voice starts coming from my quiet lounge! IP: Logged |

Sheaa, Good link. We will be using the earths position with eclipses. I'll cover Chiron (what I know of it) and believe it or not the MC and Nadir (10th and 4th house cusps) These points are never covered enough. Later, as we get into Karmic Astrology these points will be invaluable.Right now we should be learning the basic energy of the planets, when we get that down we'll start on traits of the signs. Even though you may not have a certain sign in your chart it still rules a house in your natal and influences that part of your life. Have you noticed that when applying the element to the planet, we always end up with some basic similarities? Earths approach is practical, Waters is emotional, Air is intellectual and Fire is inspirational. Memorize this, if you know how to break it down, you'll learn how to delineate and get a better feel of what you're working with. IP: Logged |

two more things lal.. first of all,i wanna clarify...sidney omarr in 'my world of astrology' says that the 4th house represents the father and the 10th the mother, but isn't it supposed to be the other way round?after all, moon rules the 4th n old man saturn the 10th... secondly..could you take a look at my post called 'calling all astrologers n astrology buffs for help'?i would really appreciate your input..n you too shea... thanksIP: Logged |

Goober, I know exactly what you're saying and I don't know why its sometimes interpreted like that but think of the dominate parent ruling the 10th house (which is usually the father)Its Saturn ruled whereas the 4th house is Moon ruled (mother) Capricorn (10)and Cancer (4) are both feminine, whereas Aries (1) and Libra (7) are both masculine. Yet we know Venus is feminine as Saturn is masculine. A little confusing. When only the mother raises the child she IS then represented at the 10th. I will take look at your post.IP: Logged |

so what you're saying is that in the case of my mom,who din raise me alone, she would represent the 4th house, but my hubby's mom, who was definitely the dominant parent and the one who raised him,she would represent the 10th for him?IP: Logged |

Good question. For a woman the 10th represents the father and for a man the mother is signified by the 10th Because women learn how to become woman from their mothers,(shown also Moon by and Venus aspects) and boys learn how to become men from their fathers (also shown by Mars and Sun aspects) the more dominate parent (opposite sex) is the 10th. The nuturing parent (same sex) is represented by 4th house. Step Parents- are shown in the 10th, if they are of the same sex. Basically the rule is dominate parent/10th house nuturing parent/4th house IP: Logged |
