My Ascendant and moon (12th) are gemini.

How does that all play out? The ruling planet for Cancer is in Gemini and the ruling planet for Gemini is in Cancer.

Not to mention, since I have multiple -planets in my first house, what character shapes my ascendant?

Sorry for all the questions. I just find my first house really confusing especially since the ascendant and signs in the first are not the same.
