there is no valid consensus in this topic. - some astrologers say 4th house rules mother and 10H rules father (and they will give you lots of personal experiences why ...) - some astrologers say 4th house rules father and 10H rules mother (and they will also give you lots of personal experiences why ...) choose yourself IP: Logged |

If Sun is below the horizon in your natal chart (nocturnal chart), then the 10th house/Midheaven generally relates to the father. If Sun is above horizon, the 4th house/IC generally relates to the father. It also depends on what planets (or luminary) may be in closest aspect to what end of that axis. So there are occasional exceptions to the above rule of thumb. ------------------ Soul Stars Astrology by The Declinations Guy Declinations: because the planets move north and south of the celestial equator IP: Logged |

Wouldn't Saturn be more for the father and Moon more for the mother? IP: Logged |

The argument is that in ChaldeanThe 1st house is ruled by Saturn. Saturn crystallizes and is the physical, tangible substance of the body. The body is born, ages and then dies (returning to dust) The 7th-which is the equal mate to the physical body is the emotional mind or subjective experience(Moon). It houses all things that form part of the subjective experiences reflected from the 1st house i.e "I am woman", " I am black" ,"I am tall" or "I am christian" etc. and is always fluid and changing. The 4th house is the bottom of the chart and is hidden from the world view and for the longest time even from the individual themselves. It is the inner consciousness or the "knowing" of the self as separate from circumstances and environment. Its the "god" in you and is ruled by the Sun. The mate to inner consciousness is Ego and that is the 10th house. It is ruled by Mars and speaks of how you assert yourself in the living world and "do". It has to be balanced with the inner consciousness of the 4th house otherwise we will have many regrets of not acting in accordance with our inner selves when death comes. The 4th house is associated with the father because of the god essence i.e " God the father" in us. The mate to the 10th is the mother i.e "mother earth" to which this incarnation is born and fight to survive(Mars). I read all this a long time ago. I recall it in bits and pieces now. But I don't think that the 4th house and 10th are fixed in male/female in the strict sense of the word. So its chart sensitive really. The father is the 10th house/Saturn in modern astrology and the mother being 4th house/Moon. But to each their own.

It USUALLY is the mother is the 4th and the father the 10th BUT if the mother is more dominant, she may be the 10th.For each person, they should see which fits better for them. The better fit is the one to go by. ------------------ Want to Read Simple, Fun,Sexy Articles on Astrology? Check Me Out, DUDE. http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

As Ami suggests, its a case by case bases that depends on the family dynamics. My mother represents the Mc to me. In that my Mom is the most involved in my ambitions, worldview and direction. She is the more ambitious of my parents. And has always encouraged worldly success and aspirations. Pushing all of us (siblings) outside into the world. My father was never really a "hands on" parent. Absent, disengaged, distant and little involved with us on the whole. So in my case, Saturn rules the Mc. That seems to fit the mother (Mc) IP: Logged |

I've read that House 5 is also the house of the father (since it is traditionally ruled by the Sun and Sun = father)..I agree with the assumption that H4/H10 is not fix for one of the parents but rather has to do with who was more of a nurturing parent (IC, H4) and who was more of a structuring parent (MC, H10). I've also read that for instance a single mother can be represented both by IC and MC since she did both jobs .. Oh, and some say that the MC is the parent of the same sex (what you thrive to become). ------------------ *DRACONIC SOUL SELF* Sun + Venus - LEO Moon + Psyche - SAG ASC + Uranus/Neptune - ARI IP: Logged |

My memory is vague because I think I was trying to understand and simplify things for myself. But what I do recall is what I wrote there. You can Google more information on it if you like. But I found it very helpful in understanding the nature of the planets. What stood out to me was Moon being the natural ruler of the 7th.As the Moon reflects light and does not have its own light. So the 1st is self and the 7th reflects the self. In that, when we choose a mate we often choose someone who best reflects us or someone who compliments us. Venus ruling the 12th and 5th also makes sense to me. In that when we spend money on pleasures, it is a "sunk" cost(12th). Think of sex(pleasure)and how one feels afterwards;tired, spent etc(12th). Also the fact that love (Venus) is often painted as largely the infatuation, butterflies and roses(5th). Jupiter ruling the 9th and 2nd...yes. When we get money in the bank, our confidence(2nd) increases. We tend to think that anything is possible(Jupiter). And perhaps even when we travel(9th),our life expands and we feel that we part of something bigger than our own little world(Jupiter) Mars ruling the 3rd and 10th...yes. We fight(Mars) to carve our path in this world(10th). Encouraged to use our skills, sharpen our talents(3rd house) and compete(Mars) The 3rd is skills a talents. And its Mars association with the 3rd suggests elementary growth; falling down, learning to talk, reason, think and assert our points if. views. Mars ruling the 3rd also makes sense to me when we consider sibling rivalry and competing with our brothers an sisters in getting Mom and Dad's attention.
