The above question may seem stupid (who feels more?) - or maybe it is lol Obviously the midpoint is a passive-reflective point, it's the one feeling the influence of the planet while the planet is supposed to feel nada. I'm thinking however if the planet doesn't feel in a way this need to see the other person in the formula where those two planets are integrated. For example, in this case, Pluto likes (feels a compulsion toward) this version of the other in which he integrates his Venus and Mars, like having her Pluto conjunct his Venus/Mars conjunction. Or, for example, if someone has their Venus conjunct the other's Sun/Saturn midpoint, Venus likes the more serious, stable side of the Sun person, by means of projection, of course.

Another thing I like about midpoints is my pattern (obsession lol) completion interest: basically if someone has, for instance, a Venus to Mars trine in his chart, the midpoint is actually a point of creation of a Minor Triangle for him, so someone else's planet there would give the flavor of a Minor Triangle to his Venus/Mars trine (a more emotional and loving integration). If the person has a Venus to Mars opposition, for instance, the other person with his planet on the midpoint would create an integration with a T/square flavor - exciting, action-oriented, or with physical undertones, depending on the integration planet of course (for example the other's Moon on someone's Venus Mars opposition mdp could point to the need for a lot of physical and emotional activity, meaning the Moon integrates Venus/Mars in a very emotional and physical way)

What do you think is the difference felt (for the mdp) when a planet conjuncts vs. squares it?

Leeloo,

"So you say we should pay more attention to the midpoints involving the Sun to Mars planets rather than the outers?"
Not necessarily.
WEll I focus on the inners, however it can`t be denied how much magic the outers can bring. Just magic usually isn`t enough to keep a relationship going.

"Who feels the spell, the eternal question lol Venus/Mars or Pluto?"
That is what I like about midpoints so much. This question is so easy to answer. The midpoint person.

If your whatever triggers my Venus/Mars-mp, I have the hots for you.
HOwever if my whatever only triggers your Mercury/Neptune-mp you might be most of all feel bewildered by that (or not even notice), but you most certainly will not want to rip off my clothes.

This is where sometimes it gets very clear who is most affected, at least in terms of midpoints.

"Could you give a few more examples?"
Venus is your expressing of love for example. So if your Venus is conjunct my Sun/Venus-mp, the way you express your feminity or love or even how you show yourself in relationships makes me fall in love with you. It is conditioned by your Venus.

Howevery if your Uranus conjuncts my Sun/Venus-mp I might be electrified by you and impulsively shockingly experience an attraction to you, but it is not really something about you, not a specific trait, but rather your general influence, like you simply electrify me. But it is not as personal, and usually not as lasting as if it was one of your inner planets or angles. Unless of course Uranus is ruler of your 1st house, conjunct your Sun or something like that.

EDIT:
You are right though, especially in the case of Moon or Venus activating midpoints, the planet person could feel receptive and stimulated, too.

I donīt think this is true for the outer planets though.

well, if you listen to midpoint astrologers there isn`t a difference.

However, I think the square might come with a bit more, I donīt know, polarization. Like if you have a conjunction it is a direct stimulation or embodiment, but with the square you feel pulled in because of some sort of magnetism based on differences. But maybe I am overcomplicating it and it really is not that important.

Not even in his mind?? lol

OK, thanks for the explanation, everything makes sense, as usually
I'm thinking maybe the square could manifest like a jolt, like some surprise effect coming from there (the planet) from time to time, intermittently. But maybe it's just speculation, you're right.

Yes, that is how I would think of it, too. Speculation of course, but to me it makes sense.

Well in my chart Moon in 2nd house is exactly quinkunx Saturn in 8th, and the Uranus falls right onto the 11th house cusp, thus highlighting the 5th/11th axis as well.

I usually thrive when things are being shaken up, and I am pushed out of my comfort zone. Even though I dread it and I am afraid I cannot deal with the change (the insecurity inherent in the Moon-Saturn-quinkunx), I know I need it and deep inside I love it, too. It makes me grow in leaps.

Also, I can`t be chained to what "a woman should do". No "shoulds" and "supposed" to in my vocabulary; I am probably more individualistic than really one to do things just because they have always been done that way or someone said it is the norm or it should be like this. It has to feel "right".
BUT I am also aware of the drawback of this, the consequences I had and still have to face for walking to my "own drum".

What does a Quincux do in a synastry?
