You bring up a good point; although she is pretty and in shape but her beauty is very earthy which makes sense as so is his. She does look very intellectual so I see what you mean..

But the reason why I think they have an actual chance is because he took his time to get married which means he takes marriage seriously and would only marry if he is really really sure about it....

The combination of these two things point out that this could last..

Natally he has juno conjunct chiron very close to his AC and he already experienced his chiron return as he is 53 years old.

Since his juno conjuncts chiron I am not surprised that its prevalent in the composite of the girl he ended marrying after he experienced his chiron return.

Chiron is complex but the sense I get is that chiron relationships when both parties are mature and ready to deal with such energy can be amazing but if not mature enough can end badly with some serious wounds.

Since chiron is part of their composite KITE I think it would probably manifest positively in their case specially since he already had his chiron return and natally has juno conjunct chiron.

I just want to add that I have only had two committed relationships in my life and both involve composite chiron in an angle; with my ex we had chiron in the 7th and with my husband it conjuncts our IC.

I was 19 when I met my ex and he was 22; we both had A LOT of growing up to do, A LOT!

It was the most emotionally intense relationship of my life but it did not end with a happy ending...

With my husband Chiron at our IC seems to translate into helping each other heal past wounds from before we met.

However in both composites chiron is at the apex of a composite YOD and simultaneously part of a composite tsquare; tsquares and YODS are challenging but by the time I met my husband I knew myself better and we both had more experience.

With my ex from the beginning there were obstacles with my age, inexperience, immaturity and innocence working against me as well as my family not wanting me to be with him or end up marrying him. That detail of my family not accepting him really hurt us since at the age of 19 I didn't even drive yet or have my own car so I relied a lot on my parents etc...

In the case of clooney c-chiron is part of a love stellium and a kite so I think the energy will manifest itself positively but ofcourse only time will tell. Anyone who is famous and gets married has lower chances of lasting, period.

The OP did not mention the times were unknown and neither time is set to 12 noon but regardless...

They do have a kite in composite and a Yod in synastry. They have Eros conjunct Juno-AC in synastry.

Composite moon-eros conjunction trine c-psyche. They also have a composite love stellium and the ruler of his DC and IC is mercury and is activated in synastry and prominent in the composite. His mercury is disposited by Venus which opposes her pluto and also his mercury opposes her uranus. Mercury rules his IC and DC so mercury is very important in synastry for him as well as composite; composite mercury opposes pluto and is part of a kite.

at first glance, they have some impressive pattern completion:

two love formations:
the Fixed cross with luminaries, Venus, Neptune, Mercury and both their Uranus in square

The Kite completing his Venus/Uranus trine, pointing towards her Sun

Two powerful love/marital Boomerangs integrated in this structure

They don't have a Kite, they actually have a Star of David, falling on his MC/IC and the third point in her Pluto.
