This is one of the strongest aspects in our chart, his Chiron exactly squares my ASC. What would this mean as the far as the way he makes me feel, is the pain too strong to overcome?

Chiron isn't "pain." He's the "Wounded Healer," if we're going to simplify it down to one or two words.

So, conceivably, he (Chiron) could bringing healing to you (the ASC). Or vice versa, since the direction of the energy isn't always clear-cut.

Because it is a square, however, there may be more difficulty or tension in the process than if it was a trine or sextile.

EDIT: Out of curiosity, I checked a synastry after posting the above. The best therapist I've ever worked with has Chiron trine my ASC. He brought enormous healing to me (and to some extent, vice versa). Was it easy and pain-free? Heck, no. Are we both better for having worked together? Absolutely. (He would tell you the same thing).

Someone said, pain needs to happen before healing takes place.

Yes, harmonious aspect could be beneficial but OP is talking about SQ. I think it is definitely pain.

Oh, there's no doubt pain would be involved. But how can you (generic you, not you personally) overlook that Chiron was a healer and had many other noble and positive qualities?

Squares are not always negative. And trines are not always positive.

I just don't see life (or astrology) as so black or white.

We have his Chiron conjunct my Ascendant. Once he told me he felt like he was a glass bowl with cracks in it and that I could fill them in and make them whole again.
