Hi!

Atropos is complicated. It means inevitable, it can be about important inevitable fated encounters and changes in your life that lead to transformation. As when you transform a death takes place, something passes away and changes. So atropos does not always mean a literal death or ending. You can argue that in synastry atropos highlights how the other helps us shed our skin, change, evolve/grow.

Like his atropos on my North node shows we we were fated to meet, a date with destiny, that us crossing paths was inevitable. Tr cupido was on that conjunction the day we met. Also his atropos on my North node can mark a turning point in my life like he will help me achieve needed transformation and implement needed changes in my life so I can move forward in my North node path. He is an angent of change helping remove obstacles to me growing into my North node and moving forward in my journey so I can live a more authentic life.

Now my atropos on his South node and his Chiron means I am hear to help him transform and heal pain that he carries over still from the past that he has not processed or worked through. I am shaking up things from the past he needs to heal and let go off and let pass away so he can move forward more at ease with his North node journey.

Last our composite atropos squaring our nodes gives our relationship this strong feeling that fate is in control. It feels like something bigger is pulling the strings, yes we are drawn to each, there is a bond/connection hard to describe that feels kind of mysterious that I don't fully understand, the sex is addictive, our hearts pound for hours when we are around each other and when we cuddle but it feels like fate is in control more than our individual desire for each other although that plays a role of course.

Perhaps atropos squaring our nodes in composite means that this relationship will help us let go of things in our life we no longer need that are holding us back in our journey. It will help us clear away a lot of ways of thinking, of being and things or people in our lives that are outdated and no longer serve us in supporting our journey and personal growth (North Node). The relationship will be an agent of change and transformation in our life.

The way you described it makes it sound like the light side of Pluto.

His atropos is conjunct nnode in synastry as well.

Well yes I feel atropos is very plutonic but I did not discuss the dark side of it, it can lead to obsession too like Pluto, it comes with this sense of urgency bc it has this urgent and fated feel to it, you feel you are "meant to be." You find yourself thinking of them a lot, its an intense energy. "The meaning of the word is “the inevitable”, and what is impossible to put aside." Like it says there, in synastry you find it impossible to put that person aside. Atropos makes you pay attention to this person, there is something about them, they stick out.

The shadow side of atropos is that you become addicted to each other to some extent. Its very bonding, you don't want to part from that person, you don't want to put them aside or forget them.

If I look at the discovery chart:

1. Pluto conjunct 8h Cusp opposite Jupiter forming a TSQUARE with MERCURY ruler of 8H and 11H at the APEX: this gives a tendency to become addicted to thinking of them, like you can't get them out of your mind, it can lead to obsessive thinking of them. This same astrological pattern though may be responsible for the positive things about this energy that I discussed earlier such as how Atropos is an agent of change that helps you let go of things/people/thoughts/behaviors in your life that no longer serve you. With that tsquare with mercury at the apex a lot of insight can be gained, ruminating thoughts has its benefits, when you obsess you gain a lot of insight and those insights then push for needed changes to happen in your life. That obsessive energy that is generated from you two coming together has the potential to spill over to other areas of your life. This can lead to gaining important insights that lead to important changes and transformation. I think you have to practice mindfulness and have strong boundaries to use this energy to its fullest capacity and how is intended to. If not its shadow side will manifest and you will just become addicted to each other and the relationship will turn into a drug used to "escape." However, Atropos is meant to be an agent of change, its shadow side is "addiction" and "escape." I think as you figure this energy out in the relationship it can be a little of both tbh and with mindfulness you are able to tap into its power to transform more.

I think with that TSQUARE your psychological unresolved issues will come to the surface and you will no longer be able to ignore it and will have to deal with it, again supporting this theme of the inevitable. In this case it becomes unavoidable to deal with your stuff so in synastry it plays out so that having that person in your life forces you deal with your stuff. If someone really does not want to go there they may run from atropos themed relationships I feel.

2. Isis sextile Osiris & PSYCHE conjunct AMBROSIA Exact trine EROS/SUN/PHOLUS: It is a soulmate asteroid!

3. Sun conjunct Pholus, Sun conjunct Eros: An encounter with a soulmate that leads to an important turning point.

4. Southnode conjunct Moon and Venus on the IC: Strong sense of familiarity, deep bond right from the start, past life stuff, karma.

5. Isis on the DC squares the nodes and Isis sextiles Osiris conjunct Mercury (8H Ruler) with Eros conjunct Sun and Pholus all trine Psyche conjunct Ambrosia: Perhaps the vehicle of achieving this transformation is erotic love. The goal is to come together through erotic love and this fuels the catalyst for change, psychological purging and transformation.

***Pluto conjunct the 8th cusp is the chart ruler of the Atropos discovery chart, hence why atropos feels heavily plutonic. Add pluto is opposing Jupiter which expands and forms a tsquare with mercury in the 4th which rules the 8th. Very binding.

In a nutshell is an energy that pushes for transformation and important changes to happen internally and externally but it has some negative side effects involving some obsession with each other bc is a very binding energy, the more mindful you are the more you can tap into the positive manifestations of this asteroid and neutralize the negative manifestations of this asteroid.

I am trying hard to understand ATROPOS but this is all exploratory...maybe it just rules fated karmic encounters that lead to important changes that need to happen in your life and is that simple.

But then again the most important soulmate of my life we had atropos/sun double whammy, my atropos trine his sun and his atropos conjuncted my sun.

It is prominent in many of my significant relationships, past and present, as well. Lots of aspects to the sun and the nodes.

Thanks for sharing that with me, it prompted me to check my parents charts, they have a atropos trine sun double whammy!!!!!

Interesting out of all my grandparents the one I feel I had the strongest bond with was my paternal grandfather, he was the last one to pass away and the death that impacted me more. He was 97. My Atropos conjuncts his Southnode by 1d. His Atropos conjuncted my Chiron by 1d.

^^You know what is interesting, the day before he passed away I spoke to him and told him it was OKAY to let go, I feel he was only holding on for us his grand kids and his daughter but he was in pain and it was time, I didn't want him to keep suffering. I always felt in my heart that it was my conversation with him that helped him let go. He died Dec 25 2013.

Transit Venus retro was opposing exact my ATROPOS by 0d03 seconds which means it was conjuncting his Northnode the day he died.

He actually has Jupiter in the 12th squaring his Nodes,
so Jupiter in the 12th at the apex squaring his southnode conjunct Neptune opposite Northnode with Tr Venus retro conjuncting his Northnode and opposing my atropos on his southnode.

Tr Moira was retro conjuncting applying his natal ATROPOS conjunct my CHIRON.

He definitely had a date with destiny, it was his time and based on the transits I feel he went somewhere good.

On the day my father died, atropos was conjunct my north node. In his chart, the south node was conjunct moira.
