I've always gone with the notion that Venus and Mars are the first planets you look at in synastry, but how powerful are Sun / Mars aspects? Sun / Moon? Sun / Venus if you had to rank them?IP: Logged |

Sun-Mars – most sexual of the Sun aspects, more “rooted” but less romantic than Venus-Mars. While in Venus-Mars aspects, Mars is sexually attracted to Venus out of love and enchantment in Sun-Mars aspects, Mars is sexually attracted Sun because of who they are. Sun turns Mars on and vise versa but because none of these bodies are associated with the tender side of love the attraction is carnal. Sun-Venus – very romantic but less sexual than Sun-Mars. Sex here is treated in a gentle and loving way. Sun-Moon – again romantic but more bordering on the platonic. Unless it’s touched by Venus or Mars the attraction could lack sexual spark. Not to say there isn’t any but it’s very wet and emotional. “Sexy” wouldn’t describe it.

Did you write this? It's so perfect. Well, I'm proud to announce I have Sun trine Mars with a guy (Aries trine Sag), not to mention Sun trine Moon (and most likely Venus and Mercury too. He has a Leo Moon.)It feels very comfortable but you're right. I do feel more physically attracted to him than emotionally. Does Sun aggrivate Mars easier this way as well? IP: Logged |

Thanks! Yes, I wrote it myself. I’ve spend the last 30 minutes lurking in threads and I’m deep in the zone lol. As for the Sun-Mars trine, yes. It’s much more flowing than the square, opposition and conjunction. Mars and Sun aren’t threatened and irritated by each other with the trine (and the sextile). They don’t feel the need to compete because they complement each other. It’s a little lazier than the hard aspects but it’s still hot. The other aspects are a little sexually violent because hate and arousal dance very close to each other in the human condition. With the trine you want to mount each other but the desire to dominate the other is weakened or even gone. With the hard aspects (especially the square) it’s strengthened and could go outside the bedroom. I was gonna post this also -sexual examples: Sun-Mars – great for rough and dirty sex Sun-Venus – great for sex on the beach during sunset, sex after a candle-light dinner Sun-Moon – great for make-up sex, “like a virgin” sex, cuddling and kissing Sexually, Venus is like a more mature and experienced Moon. She’s knows what’s up and doesn’t need to go through all the emotional steps that Moon has to take because she’s over them.

I like moon/mars too, with man as mars... it's perfect male/female energy. sun/venus as a close second... with man as venus

yes these two to me give very 'whole' relationshsips. stuff that stays with you regardless. Sun-venus, especially if conjunct is an ideal love partnership. pairing Sun with any planet is what the partnership will yield. If mars, then Mars themes, if moon then that. The one person is always feuling the Sun person with what ever planet they are bringing to it. And that is how both people put that energy back and forth with each other and keep that relationship going (and according to the planet and its themes, for how long as well). So basically, yes, Sun is important in sexual attraction as long as it is hitting the right planets or spots I suppose. IP: Logged |

Okay, from my experience Sun-Mars is the hottest. I hade a DW of Sun trine Mars and we couldnt get our hands off each other. It's dirty, rough sex, well actually from the very first time he knew what I wanted and I knew what he wanted without even asking. We had also Venus trine Venus, Mars conjunct Venus (only by sign, very wide orbs) and Sun square Pluto. But I think it was all because of the Sun- Mars thing. The physical attraction is always there even if you two stop dating, he will still be attracted to you. IMO, the best sexual aspect. Sun is not a sexual "planet" per se (unless it rules 5th house for example), but it illuminates and brings into focus whatever it touches. So if it touches Mars or Venus, well you know how it is like.IP: Logged |

Hm, no don`t agree with that. They are simply highlighting different nuances. Venus is more the sensual pleasure-principle, while Moon is about the emotional bonding. It`s attraction and sensuality ('Venus) vs. emotional attachment and belonging (Moon). IP: Logged |

I agree. The placement of venus and moon in a man's chart explains why he dated a type of girl that is completely different to the type of woman he will finally choose to be his wife. His Venus placement will be the driving force for him to seek what's pleasurable to him while his moon will dictate his emotional needs and desire to belong to a woman. Basically that's why we compare moon signs to determine compatibility between a woman and a man. Venus sq Moon in a man's chart might point at the inability to find a balance between your emotional needs and your wants/desires. IP: Logged |

The best situation is when a woman's placements are in accordance with both his Moon and Venus, I think. On topic,
I can almost always feel Sun trine Mars in synastry, it's very special to me, for some reason. Especially when it's my Mars (actually I don't think I've ever had the reverse, it's always been my Mars, their Sun). It's basically attraction at first sight, but not just sexual - you like the way that person is, the way they carry themselves, and so on. It's natural, uncomlicated and yet quite intense. Conjunction is more tense, and in my case I don't like it as much because I have Sun/Mars square Saturn (so that would be present in synastry, too - not so good). I haven't noticed squares to be as powerful or compelling, but maybe that's just me. Oppositions can be quite nice, but I've never really had them IRL (mostly it's with people I see on TV or with online friends). As for Mars/Mars aspects - they're definitely hot. But if there aren't any other gentler aspects it'll stay just that - a purely physical attraction with little substance. Moon/Mars.. don't even get me started.

What about Sun trine Sun? I don't even care about that as far as telling whether or not there is sexual attraction, and wondered if I should.IP: Logged |

I was curious about this statement about Sun-Mars and briefly looked up for charts of married couples and love relationships.. 99% of them have at least one Sun - Mars positive contact, most of them some combo in DW.Maybe Mars is like a reactor. You can have all attraction, but without Mars and Sun, everything is slow or platonic. Most of my relationships were moved by Mars. Most of them by hard aspect -semisquare, square, opposition.. Seems like I don't like to get involved in some peaceful relationship

Its not about peace IMO. I think its about desire.Mars is not even about aesthetics or beauty IMO. Its about sex appeal. Someone you are drawn to that makes you feel like your temperature is rising. I am often very drawn to Sun in Libra conjunct my Mars. I love how we charm each others pants off(many times literally). Their "suave" style appeals to me. I am the Mars. Perhaps there are Sag/Cap Mars people that are drawn to me. And I met one whom I shared a double whammy with( Mars- sun). We motivated each other to express ideas. Sometimes sexual attraction develops. But most times friendship can spontaneously form. IP: Logged |

Since the original questions are about synastry I'm moving this to Interpersonal Astrology. My answer is that Sun and Moon aspects are more important than Mars-Venus contacts. I never look at a synastry by first hunting for Venus-Mars aspects. I start with the Sun, then Moon, just as planet positions are listed in the data columns. ------------------ "Drift like a cloud and flow like water, seeing that all life is a magnificent illusion, a playing of energy, and there is absolutely nothing fundamentally to be afraid of." -- Alan Watts Soul Stars Astrology by The Declinations Guy Expert Rectification IP: Logged |
