Back story: I am fighting for custody of my friend's daughter. My friend is in prison right now and she's asked me to try to get custody of her daughter who is living with paternal grandmother. Its a really bad situation for a lot of reasons, mainly severe neglect. My friend's daughter is 17 years old but has a severe learning disability and is on about a 6th grade level so it seems like she's old enough to do for herself but, she can not. I've been in her life since she was born and her mother and I have been best friends for 30 years so we're pretty much sisters. I go to court on Oct 7th and am nervous about how the judge will favor in this case.

Btw, the ascendant of this chart is exactly conjunct my natal chiron and her (the daughter) moon is conjunct the Midheaven.

I'm a little afraid to offer an interpretation because it's such an important case, but I still wish to tell you what I see. However, don't take my word for it and be of faith!

Firstly, the mutable angles and early degrees tell me things are still unclear and may change.

Anyway, your friend is L11 Jupiter and her daughter is Moon. It is not applying to Mercury (not coming to you) but trining Jupiter instead. Obviously she can't be with her mom now but Jupiter also rules 7th which may also represent her grandmother as she's your "opponent" in court.

Like H, I am also scared to look at the chart being new to horary, but also giving false hope.

But based on the ASC being only 2 Degrees, its too early tell will happen. Degreees between 0-3 is too premature to judge, but unless there's a child involved which your case is...but still other factors

I don't know what state you're in, but most of the time, blood relations will receive the care of the child, especially if they are special case. Unless you/lawyer have solid evidence along proving that the grandparents are abusing the child... or social services has been called to the home for what you claim...

Also, is there a reason the child was given to the grandparents in the first place, and not you to being with.

I think start by looking at what the state laws are, and see what you can do to secure a better hold on the situation, maybe the grandmother's age might be a factor that could help, you as they won't be getting any younger..and the child may need more care getting older.

Thank you, I have a lot of evidence against the grandmother. She's been investigated before from child protective services. I have the support of all of her counsellors and and her teachers as well who will be going to testify against the grandmother. The state had to go to the next living relative and because I'm not a blood relative, I wasn't made aware that I could file for custody in the beginning.
