How's business this time of year?

Business is going well. I've been getting a lot of calls asking me what my rates are... and a couple phone solicitors trying to sell me websites.

Its hard to tell people what my rates are. I don't really have an hourly rate. I do use time to figure out the rate, but I add a percentage based on difficulty to the top of that.

I don't tell people that's how I do it, I just explain to them that we do estimates for free. I really cannot give a quote over the phone. I would feel terrible if it came out to be more and they were angry.

The actual job (almost) always ends up being a little more work than we had initially expected. That's how we came up with the additional percentage based on difficulty. We're getting better at estimates. We're great at figuring time for a house once we have it up to par, and no real additional scrubbing is needed. Its the first clean that gets us.

I guess its just part of the process. We're smart girls. We'll figure it out.

I really have high hopes for this. I want to turn this into something fabulous. I want to Incorporate, have employees, make investments, live off interest.

I've been devouring business type books lately. I read two of the Rich Dad Poor Dad books, a couple on business plan writing (I don't really need to do this... but it makes me feel more comforted seeing things on paper... something tangible.), and one on Sales and Marketing (although, I have a couple on this subject to read once I'm done with this one. I suspect they will say much of the same... but there might just be a tiny piece of wisdom the others missed.)

So, that's how business is going.

You know, Randall... I don't know what business you are in.

How is business going for you, mystery man?

Summers are slow for me. This month is especially so.

Business is wonderful! Thanks for asking.

We are in the process of training our very first employee!

We have to hurry up and get her fully trained before I have surgery (Jan. 24th) so I can take some time off to heal.

I put an add up on Craigslist, and it has generated several new clients for us!

Yay!!

How are you O Wonderful Webmaster/Birthday Boy?
