Realistically, how long does it take to become a paid, self sustaining astrologer who can make 30k or over? I am guessing people will not like this question for several reasons. I understand astrology is a lifelong journey and many experts grew up learning astrology as kids. I知 29, so I feel like I will never gain the level of knowledge some experts have. But recently I took a course from a very popular astrologer, someone who is known in mainstream entertainment. There were questions students asked which she could not answer as well as I would expect. I had found the answers before in astrology texts. This gave me some hope that if I do my own studies diligently, I can make this a self sustaining job. So how long does it take to have a solid level of expertise, if I知 studying it the way a medical student or graduate student does, on a daily basis? I saw a Vedic astrology courses that is 4 years long. Does that seem like enough to go out there and do readings? (I知 still caught between whether I prefer western or Vedic)

Hi UnaspectedMoon FIRST-- You might want to study your own chart to answer your own questions on that. * Study your 10th House, and the condition of the ruler of your 10th. * Study whether or not you have the astrological markers OF being an astrologer. You might want to research that about your chart. NEXT-- Look at Astrology and Business as two separate skills areas. You barely need any expertise as an Astrologer to declare yourself an astrology "Business". You don't even need to be accurate with the astrology info you give. With a clever 'advertising-hook' you can draw newbie-traffic to yourself, and get them to pay you for information. I would advise that you pay equal attention to taking Business Courses. Marketing!! Strong Computer Media Tool skills. An understanding of the laws regarding accounting, paying taxes and fees, copyrights, intellectual property. Stay organized. Have good time management. So.. Take courses and workshops on being your own business-- Solid 'entrepreneurial' education courses. Be ready to "marry" yourself to serving and feeding your business. Have a good savings account. Have a plan for ups and downs, including your health, and that of your equipment. COUNSELING-- Take some counseling courses, or get some therapy. Be able to put yourself in other people's shoes? Sometimes people seek astrology readings during some extremely stressful times of life. You need to be a HUMAN, not just a talking-intellect. You must be available to do your work, And to be available, dependable and reliable to serve your clientele and develop a trusting relationship with them. Your REPUTATION will follow you. Take short-cuts, lie? and eventually you might be labelled a con-artist or On ASTROLOGY itself--- It DOES take time to mature in your Understanding. You cannot short-cut that. You can jam your intellect full of keywords and jargon, and spew it out. That's ONE level of learning--- To really 'behold' a person's life and listen to their stories, and to know 'how' it works over time, TAKES time, patience, compassion. Full-competency takes decades? I know some astrologers who have studied 40 years, and still believe themselves to be 'students' that are learning. There are some who think themselves expert astrologers with just one series of basic courses. Time will tell. Isaac Newton confined himself to an attic to study. Had people bring him food. He emerged two years (and a half?) year later feeling as though he had a grasp on it. You might contact some of the Professional Associations, Peer-Evaluated Certifications. There are some people who set up courses to be certified as 'their' student .. {wow, I just made a slip of my little finger and it POSTED my post without my permission or warning!!! yikes. Sorry. I wasn't finished yet!! lol} For me... I would become proficient at BOTH western and Vedic. They really go hand-in-hand. I think I've expressed a lot. I wish you the Best in the Future.
Be Quality. Don't manipulate. Your Reputation is important. Be the Best Person you know how to be. Good ethics. Care about people.... They hurt. Find The Best in them, Feed them with Possibility-- The world tells them everything that's wrong with them. Say truthful things without hurting and demeaning their spirit, or paralyzing what they could see as their options for a life, poisoning their future? People are making life-altering choices BASED on words you'll say to them. You never know 'what' it is they perceived of what you say. You'll be surprised. Let what you say be based on kindness, grace, and ALWAYS with an encouragement. They will fuel their Future.... Heal Humanity. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Of the courses that are made by astrologers to certify their students, do you know of any good ones? It isn稚 hard to trust the reviews I see and some of the teachers I am finding from YouTube don稚 have reviews or any information.

One can improve rapidly in astrology if it's like a passion I have found, I improved in leaps and bounds back when I was extremely interested in it. Money, depends, on your presentation, how you deal with your clients, there are people around who seem highly knowledgeable, but their sites are sh!!t, like they don't want to put any effort to make it more presentable, as a client I would not be impressed with that. That said, I think it would be difficult to earn a lot through astrology unless you tick many boxes. In my observation there are lot of astrologers out there who have not gone that deep, but they offer readings, deceive clients and themselves through their surface-level knowledge and colorful descriptions. I think one would need to do study plenty of charts on their own and do a thorough research(which should definitely include astronomy, planetary positions and declinations) on astrology before becoming a professional astrologer, how long it takes for one to reach that level depends upon one's own speed really, some move fast, some go slow.Personally I have come to find vedic far more interesting than western. To me it seems a lot more objective than Western which is certainly highly psychological but it seems like one come up with any sort of astrological reason which can derive from asteroids to what not based on just their names without any proper study of them. But then again in Vedic they blame meeting a one eyed woman and black dog on a monday morning for astrological happenings, so there you go. Might take quite some time to separate the grain from whatever it is but again time depends on you. IP: Logged |
