I was headhunted to work somewhere a few years ago. I had a experience and a successful track record, hence I was headhunted to work for a firm, only to find out, 6 months later, that the male who started on the same day as me with no experience and who wasn't doing well, when I was killing it, to be paid more than me! He told me this! He said he felt so bad that his salary was high than mine. I resigned after this. They then counter offered me the same salary as his! I found this offensive as they should of offered me more, so I resigned. So I dont think that's the case. I used to work in recruitment and see what organisations were offering people and the men got higher salaries in the same job with the same education and skill set. So there is some other reason why.. IP: Logged

Registered: Apr 2009	posted November 30, 2018 09:48 AM There was a study where hiring managers were interviewed, and they consistently said that pay is negotiable, and men tend to be aggressive and ask for more, while women felt it rude to do so. I'll try to find it. Of course, there might be other reasons also, including discrimination. IP: Logged

But even in the case of a working couple, if (traditionally, anyway) men paid for the dates they would go on... it follows he should earn a little more. I don’t see any negativity in it, seeing it as a custom or relic from the past but whatever the reason, of course now this should be updated now that times have changed a bit and hey women’s haircuts cost sooo much more than men’s !!
