My text-phone doesn't connect with the internet right now. Costs money. And I'd need a higher-evolution of cell-phone. The one I have is gorgeous, called "Coolpad".. but quite limited. My guess is that it's a teaser-phone to get you to buy the higher grade, more-enabled product..?
.. I'm just ENORMOUSLY grateful that there had been a program giving me this cell. I would NEVER have been able to afford it otherwise. It's basically an 'emergency' phone. I've used it to text Pearlty during hurricane threats. She would have kept tabs on me, and come to this thread with any reports and news about my well-being.

I have an iPad that the wheelchair-Veteran gave me after it was dropped and broken. He bought a bigger better one. I'm waiting for the screen to more-fully break open before paying for new glass. My soul is full, not empty.
The 'alone' I feel is a vestige of anxiety and fear, knowing that (right now) I don't have real-here humans pulling for me. I believe there are internet followers that Care about what is going on, but no human to call-upon nearby in case of horrible trouble -- except the superboss lady at Volunteer place.... I believe she has partnership with lowincome places-- but in bad parts of town, and next-wall to possibly same folk as what I deal with now.
I privately looked into it. There are waiting lists, AND, it is still TOO expensive, right now.
I had had a pastor of a united Methodist church volunteer to look into things for me back in the mid-early 2000s. He was APPALLED that these programs were not available to ME!!, because of my demographic{race/culture}, and, I'm not an addict, an ex-offender, etc. … *Hey!!! I've been GOOD!!* 'Nothing' was available for good-people that needed the kinds of things offered to addicts, offenders, etc. ..
Such a shame, right?
Like, being punished for Being Good!! LOL
He found too, that I was considered "too high functioning" for other deals-- that I would have hated-anyway, and really, it didn't at-all fit. They were right.

One of the people at the volunteer place said an aside one time, that what I had NEEDED all along, all this time, was a Mentor. (hmmm. She wasn't offering??? .. that's okay.)
{That place is closed now, to volunteers, because of pandemic-- They do a lot of home-screen meetings to accomplish their work tasks}.

Glad your neighbor seems acceptable.

Obama phones, at least in California, do have text capabilities. I couldn't tell you how to use it myself as I don't use those phones, and when I tried to help others using them I found them endlessly frustrating. There are plenty of public places that have free wifi, sometimes even buses, and that means you can use text.

As for the people getting a pat on the back...I wonder if they'll get a raise the same way Congress likes to give themselves raises, or if it's an empty gesture (though I believe many common people are sincere about it). I've already heard of those temporarily laid off who lost all seniority, that is when their jobs resume they're back on minimum wage. Just one of many manifestations of what's wrong with the USA. Good citizenship is a forgotten concept in this country (the closest thing to it is blind loyalty to one's tribe, and that can be toxic as well).

Something funky had been going on with my finances.
Found out by an EBT company that my food stamps had halted mid-Feb!

It's almost my 65th Birthday (end of month).
I'm being BARAGED by salespeople trying to take-over my Medicare, get me to "sell" it as a voucher for their "company".
I looked up the comments about this one company that portrays themselves as SOOO fabulous???
They rated ONE star, and the tiny tip of the next star.
That says they SUCK! *laughing*

I have this 'other' person that called and had asked if I want to be in a health-coaching {referred by the practitioner I have}. Each "call" they give me COSTS a hell of a lot of money. Last month, it was JUST them asking if I wanted it--- THAT COUNTED as money OFF my Medicare. TODAY was counted as a SECOND call??? for them to CHARGE money for??? For me to have said YES cost like near $100??? NOW, this is call 2??
.. The girl on the phone said I shouldn't CARE if it costs money because it was INSURANCE paying for it??????
.. She said she was on the phone be asking what my weight and blood pressure is??? I don't OWN the equipment to DO that.
So, she asks if I DON'T want to participate she will cancel.
I quietly just hung up the phone.....
{I never do that....}
The sonics and shaking was just TOO much.

I'm BARAGED by all this MARKETING.
There's NO WAY of knowing what Right thing is. I don't have people in real-life who have 'experience' with all this, and can advise me. What's fake, what's real??

The EBT people said to contact my social worker--
duh??????? This State doesn't HAVE Social Workers to consult with.
They are for abused kids, or like my Spanish neighbors to glean benefits from their own community.

So. I had been really tempted to have purchased a super-cheap reading.., and maybe a deeply-discounted course of astro studies. Something inside wouldn't give the release to make the purchase. I held me back from SPENDING.. and that's when I found out why/how I had been crossing over into using specific funds set aside to get new eyeglass lenses, and a NEEDED trip to the dentist... It SET ME BACK.

Oh... All these 'health' people want you to have a CELL phone with camera and connection to the internet???

DUH!.
Just DUH.

And the *sonics* cost me EXTRA MONEY with pharmacy bill. Right now, I had to start paying-out an EXTRA $76.00 a MONTH …?

I have NO ONE fending for my interests.

Did you know that Ceres goes backwards at times?
USA could be in for a 'repeat' {2nd Wave, even 3rd} of what had happened before concerning the Covid virus---

There was NO need to 'panic', and for holding 'events' of terroristic protests (like the one conducted in Michigan) with guns/rifles and hanging-nooses, and the carrying of Nazi flags, and waving flags of the defeated Confederates from Civil War days.

We NEED to better educate young people and all people in Civics. How the Government (is suppose to) operate WHEN it is Healthy, understood, and run by highly knowledgeable, and self-disciplined leaders.
