Does anyone know why Linda (as Mary Alice) chose "Linda" as a pseudonym?

Pisces Moon~ I don't know, but I think it at least had to do with numerology...

Linda = 14 = "This is a number of magnetic communications with the public through writing, publishing and all media-related matters..."

*Linda Goodman* = 27 - The Sceptre - A Very fortunate number...

quote:
This is an excellent, harmonious, and fortunate number of courage and power, with a touch of enchantment. It blesses the person or entity it represents with a promise of authority and command. It guarantees that great rewards will come from the productive labors, the intellect, and the imagination, that the creative faculties have sown good seeds which are certain to reap a rich harvest. People (or entities) represented by the Compound number 27 should always carry out their own original ideas and plans, and not be intimidated or influenced by the diverse opinions or opposition of others. 27 is a number of karmic reward, earned in more than one previous incarnation.

Sounds just like her

*LINDA GOODMAN'S STAR SIGNS* = 19

Yeah, I figured out the numerology and some lexis. But loads of names up to 14, including ones very similar to Linda.

I just wondered if it had personal significance. Most people, when they make up a name, it has some connection with their life - they'll pick their mother's maiden name, or the name of a friend or relative, or someone they admire.

It was a great choice, anyway!

Um, yes they do.

What does this have to do with Linda Goodman though?

Linda Goodman has the same numerological value as her maiden name Mary Kemery.

I'm afraid I don't quite follow you.

Do you mean that Linda was always called Linda Goodman, and her name was never Mary Alice Kemery?

Thank you showing us your new site.

Yes, and in the Ango-Saxon tongue "Linda" means serpent.

However, I don't know if she had either of these in mind when making her choice.

Does anyone actually know, rather than guessing?

Hello all...

Linda got her name from a column she used to write in one of her first newspaper jobs.. Letters to Linda.

At least that was the story she told me, when I asked how she got the name Linda.

As always, time may have blurred my recollection a bit...

(it could also have been a radio show, Sam Goodman was a DJ/announcer at some point in time)

Hope that helps...

Another reason the name 'Linda' may have pleased her - she had a deep affinity with the number 14.

Linda had a radio show in West Virginia. It was called "Love Letters from Linda." She would read letters to/from soldiers overseas and play the most popular music of the day between letters. – all very romantic and nostalgic. I think she actually wrote a lot of the letters herself. Linda had a very warm, soothing radio voice. When she changed her name, she added "Linda" to Sam's last name and had "Linda Goodman."

Greetings Dr. Bombay...

Yes.. that was the story that Linda told me when I spent my time with her. So many things, so many stories and so many years since have blurred some of them in my mind.

Thanks for the refresher!

Bright Blessings...
A

I wonder if anyone out there has any of her radio shows on audio tape? Does anyone remember the name of the radio station?

I bet we can get copies from the station. Was it syndicated? Or was it just local?
