Just want to let you know my 2-year old son (Pisces w/ Scorpio Moon) scratched my cornea on Sunday while we were playing. He's obsessed with poking at and trying to pluck my eyeballs out their sockets, needless to say he got me pretty good. I am trying to rest my eye, not read , and not blink too much as it aggravates the scratch. I tried doing the pirate-eye thing, but I kept cheating when my good eye fatigued so I decided to give up on the Cyclops gig. Not to mention I spent a small boat-load of money on the eye ball surgery at the end of last year...not Lasik...I had PRK. The difference is that with lasik they make a flap, laser your eye, replace the flap and you can go to work the next day. With PRK, they gouge your eyeballs out, laser them for 90 seconds each, then tell you to go home and grow new eyeballs. I couldn't look at a computer screen or be in the light of day for nearly three months due to light sensitivity. I compare the experience with going to hell and back, but eventually Santa Claus comes to town...I have better than 20/20 vision now. Going back to sleep (really the only way I can keep myself from reading something) to grow some eyeball tissue..epithelial cells I think...please don't make me look it up...lol LOve&LIght, Stephanie PS. Can't wait to be back in the saddle...some really juicy stuff! I like 10. I'm a 10. Well...born on the 10th. IP: Logged |

I've got to admit finding this kind of tweaked my cookie... Gee these guys are good...really good! Wow! quote:
The song was inspired by Simon's grief over the death of his family's dog, while he has said that the title has its origin in a chicken-and-egg dish called "Mother and Child Reunion" that Simon saw on a Chinese restaurant's menu.
Here's an article I wrote about the Chinese New Year for www.consciousevolution.com shortly after Gregg died...way back in the day. http://consciousevolution.com/metamorphosis/0502/newyear0502.htm Excerpt from Happy Chinese New Year: Year of the Wood Rooster... quote:
I have a very good friend and client named Bob. Inside Bob’s massive, gruffy, tattooed exterior is about the happiest, most carefree Cappy you could ever meet (he does have a Pisces Moon). On Bob’s left forearm is a tattoo of a dragon breathing out a smoky yin-yang symbol. Bob got the dragon tattoo because he mistakenly thought he was born in the Year of the Dragon, when in fact, Bob was actually born in the Year of the Rabbit. So here is yet another gentle reminder to our Capricorn and Aquarian brothers and sisters to double-check anything they should happen to read on a placemat in a restaurant, thereby helping to save themselves from having to get a tattoo of a dragon with rabbit ears. ...

I guess what really strikes me about a chicken & egg dish called "Mother and Child Reunion" (besides, ewww!) is how would that apply to Jewish law? I went to a private school and except for me and Katie P. all my classmates had Jewish upbringings since birth...anyways the 'lunch ladies' at our school cafeteria prepared all our meals according to Jewish law. One of the food rules I learned was a good Jew is forbidden to eat an animal (or kid) in it's mother's milk. That means no cheese burgers because the beef patty is the animal/kid and the cheese is the mother's milk. Now I was only raised half-Jewish and when I read about this 'Mother & Child Reunion' chicken & egg dish I was simultaneously repulsed and automatically thought...uhhm, hold on a second there! What does orthodox Jewish law say about chicken & egg dishes? Wouldn't you think egg would be considered 'mother's milk' in the bird world? But then again I make a mean pot of matzo ball soup which has eggs in the matzo balls and often has chicken fat (or stock) in the broth. But then again-again, although definitely not vegetarian, chicken broth is technically not the meat (or flesh) of the animal. Anyways, I think kosher food rules can be pretty confusing...probably even to good Jews sometimes. http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Judaism/kashrut.html#Rules In my case, I had strong Christian, Jewish, and Buddhist influences during my childhood, which is a little confusing in itself to navigate, so I've taken to keeping all my bases covered. ************************************************* The musician Donald Fagen has described [Paul] Simon's childhood as that of "a certain kind of New York Jew, almost a stereotype, really, to whom music and baseball are very important. I think it has to do with the parents. The parents are either immigrants or first-generation Americans who felt like outsiders, and assimilation was the key thought—they gravitated to black music and baseball looking for an alternative culture." Simon, upon hearing Fagen's description, said it "isn't far from the truth." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Simon IP: Logged |

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade or burst anybody's bubble, but while we are talking about the Virgin Mary I think it prudent to mention the loss of a child. I saw this on Facebook and I thought it said a lot... quote:
A person that loses a partner is called a widow. A child who loses a parent is called an ORPHAN.But there is no word to describe a parent that loses a child because the loss is like no other.
*In regards to ORPHANS...it's origins are from the word Orpheus. Orpheus, the Serpent Bearer, is somewhere between Scorpio and Sagittarius. Anyways, I speak from experience, especially about the loss of a child...and eating pecan pie.
Minor Memory
I don't remember how soon I was able to eat and drink or what I consumed after those three times of grief when the three baby druids...left but I remember after he had gone to join them it was five days before I could swallow food and the first thing I ate was a piece of pecan pie and I remember how it shocked me that I could be so hungry I guess I thought that I would never be hungry or thirsty..ever again and I would sustain my body on vitamins and memories Canto 10-266 *********************************************** Oh! Here's another insightful link about Mary's sorrow over the loss of her son... http://www.stgemmagalgani.com/2010/08/revelations-to-st-gemma-on-coredemption.html quote: Revelations to St Gemma on the Coredemption of MaryThe Blessed Virgin Mary’s role in the redemption of humanity -Revelations to Saint Gemma concerning the Virgin Mary’s unique participation in our salvation. St Gemma writes to her spiritual director, Venerable Father Germanus Ruoppolo C.P.: "This morning after Holy Communion I thought: ‘Oh, what a great sorrow must have been for the Madonna after the birth of Jesus when She thought that they were to crucify Him! What a heart ache!

Just sharing a couple pictures of the Virgin Mary...She is typically shown standing on the Earth or on the crescent Moon while crushing a Serpent, or snake, with her bare feet.
Hey! It's the Year of the Snake, isn't it? IP: Logged |
