I am not into sports. I live right on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border near Stillwater...if I was a major league baseball player I could probably throw a ball to Minnesota. We have a lively border battle between the Vikings and Packers here. I was a longtime bartender and did my best to pretend I wasn't completely ignorant when it came to sports in order to best serve customers who happened to be sports enthusiasts. However, truth be told, when it comes to sports and cars, I'm pretty clueless. It is like a foreign language to me.

I am a huge fan of Jeopardy though. I'm fairly good at yelling out the answers before the contestants and would love to be one myself. Although with my luck, if I ever had the opportunity to be a contestant on Jeopardy, I'd probably predominately get sports categories. :/

If I was ever talked into playing football, I probably wouldn't even have sense enough to RUN in the right direction.

And look like nothing's gonna come my way

Everything still remains the same
I can't do what ten people tell me to do

Two thousand miles I roam
Just to make this dock my home, now

Sittin' on the dock of the bay

Bronze statue of Otis Redding in Macon, Georgia.

Otis Ray Redding, Jr. (September 9, 1941 – December 10, 1967) was an American singer-songwriter, record producer, arranger and talent scout. He is considered one of the greatest singers in the history of American popular music and a seminal artist in soul and rhythm and blues.

Otis Redding has been called the "King of Soul", an honorific also given to Brown and Cooke.

Redding died in a plane crash in 1967. Redding's next stop was Madison, Wisconsin; the next day they were to play at the Factory nightclub near the University of Wisconsin.

Although the weather was poor, with heavy rain and fog and despite warnings, the plane took off. Four miles from their destination at Truax Field in Madison, the pilot radioed for permission to land. Shortly thereafter, the plane crashed into Lake Monona. Bar-Kays member Ben Cauley, the accident's sole survivor, was sleeping shortly before the accident. A non-swimmer, he was unable to rescue the others. The cause of the crash was never determined. James Brown claimed in his autobiography, The Godfather of Soul, that he had warned Redding not to fly in the plane.

"(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" was released in January 1968 and became Redding's only single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and the first posthumous number-one single in US chart history.

It sold approximately four million copies worldwide and received more than eight million airplays. The album The Dock of the Bay was the first posthumous album to reach the top spot on the UK Albums Chart.

DIXIELAND DELIGHT - ALABAMA

Rollin' down a backwoods, Tennessee by-way,
One arm on the wheel.
Holdin' my lover with the other,
A sweet, soft, southern thrill.
Worked hard all week; got a little jingle,
On a Tennessee Saturday night.
Couldn't feel better, I'm together,
With my Dixieland Delight.

Spend my dollar, parked in a holler,
'Neath the Mountain Moonlight.
Hold her up tight,
Make a little lovin',
A little turtle dovin'.
On a Mason-Dixon night.
Fits my life, oh so right,
My Dixieland Delight.

White-tail buck deer, munchin' on clover,
RED-tail hawk sittin' on a limb.
A chubby old GROUNDHOG, croakin' BULLfrog,
Free as the feelin' in the wind.
Home grown country girl, gonna give me a whirl,
On a Tennessee Saturday night.
Lucky as a seven, livin' in heaven,
With my Dixieland Delight.

Spend my dollar, parked in a holler,
'Neath the Mountain Moonlight.
Hold her up tight, make a little lovin',
A little turtle dovin'.
On a Mason-Dixon night.
Fits my life, oh so right,

DEACON BLUES - AJA - STEELY DAN

This is the day
Of the e x p a n d i n g man
That shape is my shade
There where I used to stand
It seems like only yesterday
I gazed through the glass
At ramblers
Wild gamblers
That's all in the past

You call me a fool
You say it's a crazy scheme
This one's for real
I already bought the dream
So useless to ask me why
Throw a kiss and say goodbye
I'll make it this time
I'm ready to cross that fine line

CHORUS:
I'll learn to work the saxophone
I'll play just what I feel
Drink Scotch whisky all night long
And die behind The Wheel
They got a name for the winners in the world
I want a name when I lose
They call Alabama the Crimson Tide
Call me Deacon Blues

My back to the wall
A victim of laughing chance
This is for me
The essence of true romance
Sharing the things we know and love
With those of my kind
Libations
Sensations
That stagger the mind

I crawl like a viper
Through these suburban streets
Make love to these women
Languid and bittersweet
I'll rise when the sun goes down
Cover every game in town
A world of my own
I'll make it my Home Sweet Home

I'll learn to work the saxophone
I'll play just what I feel
Drink Scotch whisky all night long
And die behind The Wheel
They got a name for the winners in the world
I want a name when I lose
They call Alabama the Crimson Tide
Call me Deacon Blues

This is the night
Of the e x p a n d i n g the man
I take one last drag
As I approach the stand
I cried when I wrote this song
Sue me if I play too long
This brother is free
I'll be what I want to be

I'll learn to work the saxophone
I'll play just what I feel
Drink Scotch whisky all night long
And die behind The Wheel
They got a name for the winners in the world
I want a name when I lose
They call Alabama the Crimson Tide
Call me Deacon Blues

All the President's Men is a 1974 non-fiction book by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, two of the journalists investigating the first Watergate break-in and ensuing scandal for The Washington Post. The book chronicles the investigative reporting of Woodward and Bernstein from Woodward's initial report on the Watergate break-in through the resignations of H. R. Haldeman and John Ehrlichman, and the revelation of the Nixon tapes by Alexander Butterfield in 1973. It relates the events behind the major stories the duo wrote for the Post, naming some sources who had previously refused to be identified for their initial articles, notably Hugh Sloan. It also gives detailed accounts of Woodward's secret meetings with his source Deep Throat whose identity was kept hidden for over 30 years. Gene Roberts, the former executive editor of The Philadelphia Inquirer and former managing editor of The New York Times, has called the work of Woodward and Bernstein "maybe the single greatest reporting effort of all time."

SWEET HOME ALABAMA - LYNYRD SKYNYRD - SECOND HELPING

1, 2, 3
Turn it up

Big wheels keep on turning
Carry me home to see my Kin
Singing songs about the Southland
I miss Alabamy once again

And I think it's a sin...yes

Well, I heard Mr. Young sing about her
Well, I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

In Birmingham they love the governor,
Boo, boo, boo
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you? Tell the truth

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Here I come, Alabama

Ah ah ah
Alabama, ah ah ah
Alabama, ah ah ah
Alabama, ah ah ah
Alabama

Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two
(Yes, they do!)

Lord, they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feeling blue, now how about you?

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

Sweet home Alabama, oh, sweet home baby
Where the skies are so blue and the governor's true
Sweet home Alabama, Lord
Lord, I'm coming home to you, yeah yeah
Jimmy Carter's got the answer

Songwriters:
VAN ZANT, RONNIE / ROSSINGTON, GARY ROBERT / KING, EDWARD C.

The leader of the Lynyrd Skynyrd band was Ronnie Van Zant who died in a tragic plane crash when he was 29 years old on October 20, 1977.

Before he died, Ronnie Van Zant lent his band and music to then Presidential candidate democrat Jimmy Carter in 1976.

Ronnie took his band to Atlanta, Georgia where they performed a benefit concert to raise money for Jimmy Carter's campaign into the White House.

So in the song Sweet Home Alabama, you have Ronnie Van Zant singing that in Birmingham, Alabama, they love the Governor George Wallace. Next you hear the band's three female backup singers sing "Boo, boo, boo" as a response to this love of George Wallace. And then Ronnie sings the next line "we did all we could do" meaning to fight the racist politics of Governor George Wallace.

Ronnie Van Zant envisioned a different South and a different Alabama and he gave his vision-in-music to support Jimmy Carter.

That is a page from the beginning of Linda Goodman's Love Signs.

And I believe this is the back story information you are seeking...

Any individual thoughts on Linda's lost manuscript: Spiderline?
Any thoughts are welcome regarding…
Here are some segments related to her lost manuscript:
_________________________________________________________

Linda had good reasons to be critical of the CIA and other clandestine government agencies ... personal reasons. While investigating government crimes in connection with a Lockheed boat called the Star Quest (connected with Watergate and other covert activities in the Nixon administration), Linda received threats against her children’s lives. Shortly thereafter, her daughter Sally “committed suicide” in circumstances so suspicious that Linda was convinced that foul play was involved and that there was a deliberate cover-up of the immediate evidence surrounding the incident. For the remainder of her life, Linda spent much of her time, money and energy investigating the true fate of Sally. Although the full results of that investigation have never been made public (and the “real” Sally never returned), we know at least small bits about what Linda discovered through a partial manuscript of a book she intended to publish but never did, called SPIDER LINE: Linda Goodman’s Search for Sally. Even the small surviving fragment of this investigative piece reveals involvement by CIA, FBI, National Security Agency and Justice Department officials in a widespread and chilling network of alleged conspiratorial criminal activity. As stated in the introduction to that unfinished manuscript:

Spider Line will inform the world of the shocking experiments conducted by government agencies, in connection with “mad scientists” of the type of Nazi Dr. Mengele, from American and European Universities. These people have been - and still are - conducting experimentation in cryogenics, cloning, brain implant, super learning, mind control, amnesia and the implanting of false memory, changing identity through medical surgery - and through the use of body doubles, look-alikes and astral twins.

The public must be made aware of what is happening to these pathetic victims, including thousands of the world’s young people - a situation which is ongoing, and which will continue, unless such deplorable and inhuman experimentation is halted through exposure and the resulting public outrage.

- Linda Goodman, from the unpublished outline to her proposed book Spider Line.
