"Did you write The Book of Love? And do you have faith in God above? If the Bible tells you so. Do you believe in rock and roll? Can music save your mortal soul?.. ... No Angel born in Hell Could break that Satan's spell... ... I went down to the sacred store Where I'd heard the music years before But the man there said the music wouldn't play And in the streets the children screamed The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed But not a word was spoken The church bells all were broken And the three men I admire most The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost They caught the last train for the coast..." Dedicated to Buddy Holly... quote: Except to acknowledge that he first learned about Buddy Holly's February 3, 1959 death when he was folding newspapers for his paper route on the morning of February 4, 1959 (the line "February made me shiver/with every paper I'd deliver"), McLean has generally avoided responding to direct questions about the song lyrics, such as saying, "They're beyond analysis. They're poetry."

Lol... As chance would have it, I wound up having to go see my optometrist four times last month. Coincidentally, my eye doctor is in a five member band consisting of all optometrists. He plays back-up guitar, trumpet, sax, and sings. IP: Logged |

The five member band consisting of all optometrists--that my eye doctor is in--is called 3 Degree Shed.I'm not sure why they named their band "3 Degree Shed"...I wonder if they joke around and say they were going to name their band "3rd Eye Blind", but the name was already taken. They're performing at the Wisconsin State Optometric Convention at the end of the month. I wonder what songs are on their setlist...maybe, 'Can't You See' ?.. IP: Logged |

"EIGHT MILES HIGH and when you touchdown You’ll find that it’s stranger than known SIGNS IN THE STREET that say where you’re going..." Eight Miles High ~ The Byrds ****************************************************************** "Helter skelter in a summer swelter The Birds flew off with a fallout shelter EIGHT MILES HIGH and falling fast It landed foul on the grass The players tried for a forward pass With the jester on the sidelines in a cast Now the half-time air was sweet perfume While sergeants played a marching tune We all got up to dance Oh, but we never got the chance 'Cause the players tried to take The Field The marching band refused to yield Do you recall what was revealed The day the music died?" American Pie~Don McLean ******************************************************************
We also went out to the edge of the field on Gull Avenue, where the plane crashed, and watched a beautiful Iowan sunset. At the edge of the field is a giant replica of Buddy Holly's signature glasses... Btw. Gulls --often referred to as SeaGulls-- are SEE-BIRDS.
...which reminded me of quite possibly the most famous literary "see-gull" ever --Jonathan Livingston Seagull. IP: Logged |
