Here is some great work, by a wonderful woman...*** Today's Children and Their Very Special Charts ©2000 By Donna Cunningham, MSW According to an important new book, The Indigo Children, a new breed of child is being born. They have a startling new energetic pattern that the authors perceive as Indigo on the color spectrum. The authors say that youngsters designated as Indigo Children share a common set of characteristics. They are highly intelligent, with many interests and abilities. They are self-possessed, supercharged with energy, and sure of what they want and need. Before finding this book, I had been wondering for some time about the exceptional planetary pictures in charts of today's youngsters. A fascinating new astrological generation was born during the past decade, while Uranus and Neptune were conjunct--first in Capricorn, then in Aquarius. The strength and difficulty of the planet Uranus in some of their charts made me speculate that, though staggering numbers are being diagnosed as ADD or HDD, they might simply be wired differently than we are. That is, they may have nervous systems suited for the speed of the extreme high-tech era that will unfold as they grow up. Have you been to the movies lately and struggled to follow the film previews aimed at youngsters? Don't those high-speed, wildly shifting images leave you bewildered even as the kids in the audience follow them avidly? Their nervous systems process and act on amazing quantities of images and information in seconds. The Indigo Children confirmed my theories. Like many who have a strong Uranus in their charts, these children do not respond to ordinary types of authority or to attempts to manipulate and control them. They react better to respectful and intelligent discussion, to having choices, and to being treated as the adults they are inside. Much of what goes on in school does not interest them, and they are prone to following their own highly purposeful agendas. Naturally, parents and teachers with more traditional mindsets are confused and frustrated by these children, who are often put on medication. When tested, however, many place in the gifted range across the board. In joining us on earth in this pivotal point in history, they bring very special talents and abilities that will be much needed in the future. Many of the qualities that cause problems for them as children--like thinking outside the box and following their own counsel--will serve them well in adulthood as the 21st Century unfolds in startling ways we cannot even dream of today. (The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, was written by Lee Carroll and Jan Tober and published by Hay House, 1999. For more details, visit the authors' website.) I have seen plenty of charts of children born over the past decade, and many of them are challenging due to unprecedented formations of the outer planets. Those formations have much to do with the challenges citizens of the world will face twenty or thirty years from now, including the legacy of our squandering of natural resources and our lack of care for the environment. The Higher Selves of these children know what sort of world they face. They have chosen to be born under charts that reflect the abilities and strengths they will need in that brave new world. In assessing and interpreting their charts, we cannot judge by past experience of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. All three are now in the Universal signs (Sagittarius through Pisces). These signs have to do with the ways we are increasingly connected with and dependent on the Collective as a global civilization unfolds. The charts of the children being born now reflect the ways they will shape and be shaped by civilization in their time. We cannot know what will unfold in the new era that is dawning, and it can be a great relief to admit that when asked to look at a child's chart. We should not judge these children or their charts, but help open their parents' eyes to this unprecedented new breed. This perspective is invaluable to pass on to parents, many of whom are deeply stressed out by trying to raise this new breed by the old rules. *** NOTE: The Mountain Astrologer's April, 2001, issue contains a lengthy expansion on this article. Yeah it is, I wish I could be one Although I guess a 2° Uranus-Pluto conjunction in Virgo is still something IP: Logged |

Indigo children are not necessarily treated well by public schools. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

my thoughts..we are all the same and equal..my daughter's carry these traits..but they are all the same..we all deserve to be treated with respect..and intelligent conversation..it's all normal..why cause separatism..we are all God's children equally. ...
