Thanks daf. I admire your strength. I was wondering, can you reuse that feeling? Or is it just save once, use once. It'd be cool if you stored all such memories and just experienced them all at once for extended periods. Do you think this is what is refered to as bliss? Are you afraid of bliss? Thanks again, Dean. But my fear is that you will be too overwhelmed. You ever get that shakey feeling kinda like too much coffee, and you can't stop smiling? Well, smiling too much hurts. And that shaky feeling makes me feel like I'm about to fly apart. Bliss scares me. This is one reason I don't really want to be too enlightened. I want to remain human to go theough all emotions when I receive them. I think I might not understand bliss too much, but I'm still scared of it. In fact, I belief fear of the unknown is the most common fear? Also fear of fear itself is up there.I wonder what blissphobia is called? Thanks for your answers though, Dean. IP: Logged |

Well, I love being happy, and feeling love. When I refer to bliss, I mean that feeling that the only way is down. You're at a peak. Your body is almost flying apart with pure happiness. It's scary because it doesn't seem like reality. It seems like addiction or caffeine. I think it's good to be happy to a certain level. I guess I mean there's such a thing as TOO happy. Can you really imagine walking around smiling freakishly everywhere you went? Dean. IP: Logged |

Yes, you know, on a slightly different note, what I found annoying was a dimple I had that kept pulsating. I thought I was a freak, then it stopped. But now, my nose twitches. It kinda moves up and down. That's really annoying, but kinda cool too. It's stopped for a while though. It might not come back again. Maybe next time my ear will start twitching...Dean. IP: Logged |

That was absolutely beautiful, Daf. Thank you.Dean...I smile most of the time. People may think I'm a freak, but most of them become freaks quickly enough, because smiles are more contagious than the flu. You can catch one just by seeing a person who has one. IP: Logged |

I have a friend who can wiggle his ears. It's funny. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

Yeah, I like it when people smile. When I see "nasty" people, I find it hard to smile. I'm thinking it's like a gift that only presents itself when needed. In some people's case it always seems to be there for others, but when I refer to bliss, I'm thinking the "too-much-happy" bug. I think, sometimes I feel bliss without smiling. In fact, I try not to smile and just experience the feeling, but even then, I'm not sure if this is bliss or just feeling life. I fear the bliss that makes you jumpy and too happy. Whenever I say too happy, I'm reminded of Yin and Yang and Chinese people. I was told once that Chinese people are very conservative because they understand perfecelty the concept of Yin and Yang - that too much happiness will develop into sadness. So they are pleasant and smile, but will try not to be too happy. It's a balance. Another thing about Chinese people where this applies (I once thought) is Confuscanism (sp) vs Taoism. The abstract vs the experiential. They seem to incorporate both in everything. Hence, Bliss is probably feared as much as depression.Anyhow, they're just some thoughts I've had. I'm sorry if anyone thinks these comments were in anyway racist, and if they do, please speak now or forever hold your peace. Heaps of Love, Dean. IP: Logged |

It seems that many of us engage in an "anti" version of this..focusing on our worries, bad thoughts, anger and embarrassment instead of the more pleasant thoughts in our lives. We hyper focus on our negative thoughts and feelings, disregarding the here and now in favor of preoccupation with a head full of insecurities. daf Linda Goodman Fans Unite at the Original Linda Goodman Fan Site!

Very true, daf. That is a "phenomenon" that seems to occur as a default when one does not exercise a sort of mental dialogue with one's own self. IP: Logged |
