OK, I think we're ready for this (well some of us). From time to time somebody posts along the lines: "how can I force my freinds and family to live as long as I intend to live?" Paradoxically, people who want to extend their lives want to, because they don't like saying goodbye, but the longer they live, the more goodbyes they will say. People who have already extended their lives i.e., old people, complain that all their friends have died. What are your thoughts?IP: Logged |

Great topic, Maklhouf!! As for me, I struggled with the decision whether or not to choose an immortal life, but my partner of many years is yet to acknowledge reincarnation, so let's just say we're not on the same page regarding these things, and because I love him so much, I've decided I want to stay with him, no matter where, so I guess my love is stronger than my sense of "survival". In addition to that, I'm not that enthusiastic about living in this material plane longer than I have to, so of course that made my decision much easier I would love for us to stay here for many many years or centuries, but only together. A long life without him would be punishment, not a reward. So I'm trying to focus on remaining healthy and strong till the end, and I hope my death is swift and painless when it comes. For me, reincarnation is a fact, so I have no problem with the idea of dying, only with the idea of us parting. So I guess my standpoint is clear, huh And, after all, time is relative, so I'm trying to overgrow the Earth concept of time which ties us down. I think my energy is much better spent this way. Do we really say good bye or perchance there`s an existance beyond the material... w/ no good bye required ? ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

Thanks both for your insightful answers. Every separation is a kind of death, perhaps. Mystics try to experience death before they die as it were. Also people who have near death experience claim it leaves them with no fear as they have met everybody again on the other side. There is an art to saying good bye perhaps. Quite often we're glad to see the last of people, even people we love. And there are new people to meet of course.IP: Logged |

I've always kind of thought that, as you begin to reach immortality, you realize that in reality, there is no such thing as "death" - you would reach a point where you transcend that sadness. Death is about loss, but if you are a spiritual being at your core, then what is lost?Just my two cents. IP: Logged |
