Alas, I am not an authority on Jewish scripture, but I invite anyone who is to enlighten us. Psalm 118 (New International Version)22 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; 23 the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. 24 This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. 25 O LORD, save us; O LORD, grant us success. 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. From the house of the LORD we bless you. [a] ------------------ The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; Matthew 21:42 IP: Logged |

My argument response was referring to the original Post.------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll IP: Logged |

Sorry our Hebrew scholar did not materialise, but I did my best! Reading the Bible you get lots of sex and murder, perhaps more than the "good" bits. While you might read Shakespeare for the puns,I would say, with the Bible it's a question of getting an interpreter you trust.I am not the most trusting of folk, but I am willing to trust the vastly more learned scolars of King James to deliver the Book to me, just as I beleive one film critic above another. ------------------ The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; Matthew 21:42 IP: Logged |

I wouldn't think so. There are a great many religions. some of them do think of themselves as the holy ghost. The trinity seems to have been an effort to include everyone, those who thought there was one god and those who thought there were many------------------ The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; Matthew 21:42 IP: Logged |

I am sure you are right but each of these religions contains so many factions within it, which is what I meant when I spoke of religions. The Holy Ghost means some thing very spiritual to me, but i am sure it was introduced as a concession to pagan worship. When you, like Saint Paul are endeavouring to take over the World, you have to make certain accommodations, no? ------------------ The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; Matthew 21:42 IP: Logged |

Holy Goat? Interesting. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. this is an interesting - if one-sided - conversation. i guess i can talk mostly to what makhlouf said.on small points - i have known quite a few very romantic englishmen, not sure where you got that impression!.. it's true the english language is slaughtered in all corners of the globe, but no more in england than in the u.s...and in fact many english people would tell you that "american" is a different, if similar, language and not english at all! i'm all for getting it right, mind you, but language is an evolving entity so what's right today was often wrong yesterday. as far as the actual topic goes, my understanding of god is that it is in everything, and every expression. love is especially godlike, and human/physical renditions may be imperfect but they are still spiritual. it is where we forget the spirituality that love goes down the tubes...

I agree. Many people try to get by on love without spirituality.IP: Logged |
