Well, I think the real spiritual path is VERY challenging! This is one of those "rubber meets the road," "pick a lane" subjects for me.
As I mentioned before, there are stunt immortals, and real immortals.
A real immortal wouldn't marry someone for whom their immortality was superficial.
There a very few real immortals around.

I agree.

Never say "never", Diamond Goddess!

To return to the spiral question. Linda's assertion that the North will always win over the south in any conflict may also be based on this, since water drains clockwise in the Northern hemisphere and anti clockwise in the South.

Nope, I CAN say "never", Maklhouf!
A real immortal would only get pulled down energetically by the stunt immortal. The relationship inevitably breaks up, or they both die. The energy is too uncongruent.
Some people are desperate for love, and will trade away any belief system, etc., for it.
Those "immortals" are the ones who die.
(Thanks for the agreement, Randall!)
We get spiritually tested all the time, and this is one of the big ones.
Great point about the N-S and water spiral! It's really fascinating. Another thing about which I would LOVE to know LG's source for the info.
I'm right-handed, so spinning right feels more natural to me.

The North doesn't always win. Linda gave an example of the North losing.

DG, You are forgetting the other side of the coin, that people who hold deep beliefs in common can be sworn enemies. Witness the fights in Lindaland. I have been to lots of churches corroded by spiritual jealousy

M! We weren't talking about the "other side of the coin"!
(I think you just love to try and stir an imaginary pot.)
Of course there will be disagreements, no matter how fervently people share beliefs.
But if I'm talking marriage, there are some things which are non-negotiable.
I had forgotten about the examples of the North losing, Randall. Haven't read LG's books in a while.

It's been said that you can't control whom you love. That's why a Jew marries a Catholic and so forth, despite strong objections from both families.

Maybe I'm just more disciplined than most. (Cap. Sun, Taurus Rising, LOL!!!)
You don't have to BE with someone you love, if you see that it will pull you down.
It's a matter of what's important to a person.
We are often faced with difficult choices on the spiritual path.
It's literally a "life-and-death" issue.

That is complete nonsense.

It may happen sometimes that spouses are in agreement on major points, but more often opposites attract. That why the marriage house is the opposing house. People share a house and a bed even though one is opposed and the other is in favour of bombing civilians in Afghanistan for instance. Members of the same family often have nothing
in common with their siblings etc. The list could go on and on.

will deal with this point by point as there's a lot here:

first, not everyone will choose physical immortality...we all know this as we have abundant evidence of this right here in LL... to suggest differently is inaccurate and ignoring the reality around you... as far as children and families are concerned not even sure why that's relevant at all... there are a growing number of couples in this world who are choosing to remain childless - not too long ago there was some concern in Italy because the birthrate amongst nationals started to decline uncomfortably...

your assertion that opposites attract is short-sighted and a rather gross understatement... opposites may attract but they don't necessarily remain that way... in my own experience i have never encountered any couple that could have such diametrically opposed ideas and still stay together... what i have seen are couples where one has modified/compromised their stance to allow for a more harmonious relationship... as DiamondGoddess so wisely pointed out, the energy required to sustain one belief system over another would be draining...over the course of time it would dissolve the relationship...

Very eloquently stated, emitres!
One thing I have noticed lately is the better I feel from the inside, the less attached to the idea of outer love I am! LOL!!! It's an interesting shift.
I agree that usually what happens is one person modifies beliefs in order to stay in the relationship. I am not a modifier! LOL!!! (Cap. Sun at Midheaven, Taurus Rising, lots of Aquarius planets, including Venus.) I'm a Cardinal sign--here to lead.
But I see it in my "spiritual" friends--one keeps marrying women who are not really into these beliefs; and, lo and behold, he keeps getting divorced!
We are always being asked to "pick a lane" in life.
And picking a lane is how to get what you want from life.

Yeah! Maybe I'll use that someday.
My Saturnine severity comes in handy.
This is just something I've noticed--people say with their mouths that they want "whatever" but then they set up their entire life to NOT do that!!!
It's kind of astonishing, really.
People look at my resume and say,"How can you do all this stuff?" and I realized the other day that I put NOTHING ahead of my dream!!!
Not a man, not friends, not stuff, not anything; because I've always known that all that is there for me, on my path, as I go.
In fact, I pay very close attention to how supportive other people really are of my dream, and I don't waste time on those who aren't.
So I could settle for a life full of mediocre stuff that is just a weight on me, or I can live ridiculously beneath my means so I am always available for the next audition, show, etc.
My dream comes first! I wouldn't be a whole person without my purpose.
I don't feel as bad for others anymore, either, because they can whine, but they "Picked That Lane" and aren't changing it.
People will try and pull you down because of their feeling about where they're at in life.
I ignore all of it and have a very "straight and narrow gate" to let people really in.
You also need "nerve and perseverance" as a friend of mine once said. That's why most people aren't successful, and I agree with him.
"Picking My Glamourous Lane," indeed!
LOL!!!

Yeah, me too!
"Feast and famine" gets mighty old, when you're in "famine" mode again, lol!
But I really think that, too, is just part of being perseverent about your dream.
I also think we get straight-up "tested" as to how much we REALLY want something.
I am always hearing stories of how people hang in there and get rewarded.
(Besides, I have Taurus Rising, so I'm in for the long haul. LOL!!!)
Hang in there!

Gratitude leads to abundance. Complaining attracts lack. We should all try to be more grateful and complain less.
