Recent recommendings on books, movies or tv shows... hhmmm...

Books:
A dictionary - yep, no kidding! Much of my spiralling and "tuning-in's" have come from digging in dictionaries.

Movies:
Serendipity - synchronicities abound! It's a re-minder to those who doubt that yes, there is a UNIversal Law of Synchronicity at work and when we are aware and listen, when we act upon our knowing... OH the JOYS!

K-PAX - traveling by way of light, I'm sure ROCKS! K - the 11th letter of our English alphabet (there's that Master # again!); and PAX - "peace" aka, harmony. Perhaps too, this movie hints to Soul Pieces and The Saturn Seven Cycle - "walk-ins".

Love to U all

Scully~ I just watched FREQUENCY again the other night... it is such a cool movie

Randall~ If you want to view a movie that exemplifies *unconditional love* - FORREST GUMP is *it* Here is some trivia about it... Tom Hanks did the film for a paultry fee plus a small take on profits. His *take* earned him $60 million ~ YEOW!

I wholeheartledly agree with Oceanwench on "The Matrix". That movie blew my mind. Also, Princess, I have spent countless times trying to read Sebastian's lips as he shouted out the name in "Neverending Story". There was one time, in a flash of brilliance, that I instantly knew what it was. Then somehow, I developed "amnesia" and was never able to discern the name again. It is never actually mentioned in the movie. The only clue is that one scene where Sebastian shouts the name in the midst of the storm....

Kenneth Brannagh and Emma Thompson in Dead Again?
I have seen that Mexican movie Like Water For Chocolate, where the girl cooked food that makes people ecstatic or sick?
Liked The Matrix and Pay It Forward too.
I would recommend The Seventh Seal, Only You, In Dreams.

How about The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub? Has anyone else read it? It's really a wonderful story.

I had forgotten about DEAD AGAIN, YIVY! That was a way good film

Marigold~ Kenneth Brannagh and Emma Thompson <~~~ good catch

Quiksilver~ If you ever remember, please do tell!

The Matrix was indeed a great film... I enjoyed it despite that it's yet another *visually* dark/shiney movie I'm sickofem!

I highly recommend "Sirens", starring Hugh Grant, Tara Fitzgerald, Elle MacPherson, Portia de Rossi and Kate Fischer. It's a very powerful, emotional movie about celebrating your body instead of suppressing it, and the power of life that pious Christianity never could take away from us. It is an awesome movie.

The Lord of the Rings - book and movie(s). The film was made by a wonderful Scorpio/Cancer director, and it was just brilliant. Best film ever! Ten thumbs up!!

I loved The Sixth Sense.

Vertigo - one for the astral twins! It's a Wonderful Life (magic! I cry every time).

Telly (I probably watch too much): Charmed, Mysterious Ways, The Simpsons (Groening is an astrology fan, and there's loads about birth dates and Sun signs in nearly every episode - slipped in, in a wacky Aquarian way you may not notice).

I love reality TV like Temptation Island and Big Brother (oh the shame!), especially when they have contestants's birth details on the website.

Books ~

* The Road Less Traveled (by M. Scott Peck)
We, especially at Lindaland, always say that Love is the key to evolution, and the solution to all problems. But what is Love? The romantic love? And/or the feeling of love we have with our friends and family? Or is it the way you love a movie or a book?
All this is explained in this book. Do read it. After that, you will truly understand "Love is the solution to all problems" for the first time.

Two other very helpful books I found are:
* The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (~ Stephen Covey)

* The Joy of Reiki (~ Nalin Nirula and Renoo Nirula)

Both these books help you take charge of your life. You will never again feel helpless. The first one, of course, may be known to most of the k-Nowflakes already. The second one may not be available in the USA (I searched on Amazon.com), but do try to get it through other channels, if possible. It's worth it.

Movies:
Gladiator - Forget the hype. It's a great movie of doing right things done wrong. It's, of course, very inaccurate, historically. But hey, it was fun.
Castaway - poses the question, how STRONG are you inside to deal with all the isolation? None of the Survivor garbage they show on the telly.
A Room With A View
Like Water For Chocolate
What Dreams May Come
Dogma
--I agree with Gooberlily, Lastchild and Batgirl. These are very good and thought provoking movies, the first two are great and heartrending examples of true love and sacrifice.
Schindler's List - very hard movie for me to sit through again but it instills in me the kindness of strangers and the power of love in times of horrendous, unspeakable evil.

For books:
Clan of The Cave Bear - Jean Auel
- classic
Night - Elie Wiesel
David Eddings Belgariad Books
-pure fantastical escape, second only to JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings (I think, lol)
100 Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
- In fact, anything by Marquez is really thought provoking and fascinating
Franny and Zooey - JD Salinger
- I am so willing to bet Zooey was a Gemini with an Aries rising.
The Fifth Business, The Manticore, and World of Wonders - Robertson Davies
- absolutely great trilogy of books dealing with free will, Jungian psychology and magic in a fictional setting, written by one of Canada's late great writers.

One of the best and most touching movies I've ever seen is "Heaven and Earth" (well, I'm pretty sure that's the title). It's a true story, and one of those movies that just grabs you and makes you think. It's about a poor Vietnamese girl who fights for the communist side, then comes to the American side. It shows the issues and the reason behind her thinking from her eyes. She gets pregnate by a wealthy man, whose wife makes her go away, and she has to rely on herself. She meets an American GI and falls in love, and they get married and come to America. I'll spare you all the details, but it's heartbreaking and triumphant, and doesn't shy away from the truth.
I recomment this movie to everyone I give it 5 stars

OH, the book "Why Me, Why This, Why Now", by Robin Norwood is one of the best books I've ever read, and has shaped my thinking profoundly. It's about pain in a spiritual context. It explains why we go choose to take certain paths, the reason for our pain, and shows the whole picture. It combines psychology with spirituality. I recomment it to everyone; especially those who are in pain and wondering why. It is one of the wisest and most excellent books ever written and answered so many question for me.
I give this one 6 stars

I came across this one years ago and it's still a good one to give to children and grown-ups alike. "Oh, The Places You Will Go" by Doctor Seuss. Great advice on life.

------------------
"If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy.
If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem.
But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to change
the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard
to plan the day."
