I was watching an episode of Leave It To Beaver today on TV Land, and Wally met his girlfriend's father. Her father asked Wally if he wanted to smoke and became offended to find out that Wally didn't smoke! And a few weeks ago, I saw an episode of All In The Family where a very pregnant Gloria was drinking wine with Mike. My how things change... ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Must not have been an age restriction in the Beaver days. I know that today one of the toughest things is to keep teens from smoking. And there on the very-family-oriented Leave It To Beaver was the acceptance of teen smoking. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." And Christians used to be tolerate of people of different faiths, they used to enjoy Halloween and were open. Today Christians are now preaching against Halloween, Harry Potter books, Astrology, Angel board/cards. Not long ago, they were burning Harry Potter books as well as William Shakespeare books in Texas or Arizona (not sure which is which). Southern Christians when I was growing up were very open and loving, liked FUN, didn't think twice about taking us kids to scary movies. Today, they're been preaching about END OF TIME, RAPTURE, and are against Tree-huggers, do not care for environment/the Earth. Are we going back to "Dark Age"?? IP: Logged |
