Hey ya'll (particularly those directing poor, young innocents towards on-line alternative press sources and those sympathetic to such views) - I suggested a deal to a friend of mine who works for the GOP: I'll read whatever conservative tri...book he wants if he'll read a more leftie book of my choosing - the problem being that I've been swamped w/ school (and whittling away much too much time on the web) lately, so I'm a bit behind on newer pubs. Do ya'll have any suggestions for a clear, well-thought-out, evidence driven, liberal-y book that I can force down his thro...give him? Thanks Corri IP: Logged |

Yeah, Stupid White Men is good too anything by Al Franken, Michael Moore, and read Arianna Huffington's columns at commondreams.org. She is just fabulous, just mention that you are influenced by her work and your friend will lose it She was once married to a major CA Republican until she saw through them, now she just slams them, brilliantly. She is just amazing, and has written books and is just awesome, she has a couple sites: http://ariannaonline.com/ and http://overthrowthegov.com and check out her links. I am on her email list and get her new columns when she completes them. We have chatted a few times, she is a great woman and very busy... My two essays are here: http://lovestarz.com/biblioteca.html the last two are mine, and so are some of the others. Just mouse over the little column icon and it will say the author, mine say "by Ravin". This page is also where I post the work of other writers, too. Basically, I am pretending to be the Voltaire of my age I hope you enjoy them, they are lengthy yet well researched and thought out, each one took me about six months to complete. If you get through both of them I am sure you will see a different perspective about the Church and its position on astrology and reincarnation... Bright Blessings, Carlo IP: Logged |

tash479 & C - _Stupid White Men_ . That's actually a better idea'n you could know - I always tell my friend that he's the whitest man alive. I think that'll be the next book exchanged in our next round (there'll be several); when I told him about _Blinded by the Right_, he said, oh, wait a minute...let me go get the e-mail...OK - I told him that I had asked around about it, and that a couple people had rec'd it prof, but that at least one person had said that he'd probably lie about having read it, and he wrote, "Silly girl, Republicans don't lie. (...) We leave the lying to the Democrats (Clinton, Condit, Gore...etc). (...) I have not read it, but have heard a lot about the turncoat named Brock so I look forward to reading it." He loathes A. Huffington; I'm going to read over, nay, absorb those sites referenced, and then quote her verbatim. It'll be GREAT! Corri IP: Logged |

Pert cool, pert cool - didn't get as much of a chance to go through it as I'd like, though. I sent the links to my Rep friend, and he just said, "OH, she's completely in-sane!" "See - there you go again, passing judgement on..." "No, really - she's nuts. I had to deal with her some during the McCain campaign (he worked on the campaign, travelled around, it was pretty cool) - she's insane." "Whatever. Everyone who doesn't fall in line w/ Helms is nuts to you - you're even ****** w/ your boy John right now."Re: all the responses: you bored or trying to get rid of something? Oh, I see - poetry.
