Well, it's smelled and felt like snow all day, and it looks like there's going to be a real storm (well, real by DC standards - we should have about 8 inches ).

Yes! It's supposed to snow here in NYC today. Personally, being a winter baby, I love it! But snow in the city just turns to slush. Better wear black pants today....

Fajita & Snow -

Oxy - Ew...brown slush...
You can still walk down the street with you mouth open and catch the flakes b/f they hit, right? (Er, I mean, don't do that if someone'll knock you down while you're doing it...maybe while in front of your building?)

Berns - HA! When I was growing up, we didn't get "snow plows". Stafford's snow removal policy was to let the sun come out! Hurumph, hurumph, hurumph.
Really, though, Stafford was the best county (excepting Fauqier) for getting days off of school/work - there were tons of back roads (on which I lived) that became completely impassable with a few inches (again, impassable to lowlander Virginians...we're kinda wimps about snow) and enough roads by the Rappahanock that'd flood with heavy rain (so school'd be out for any tropical storm that passed)...he he!

hehehe..yesterday I was talking to my friend Kevin who lives in Chicago, and he asked me why we closed schools early etc...I laughed and said, well, when you come down here, you'll understand...

yeah, they get LOTS of snow in Chicago..but everything there is FLAT! A back road up there is like I-81 down here! HA! They actually closed our building...I thought I'd have to take vacation, but we get paid when they close down! YAY!

Mmmmm...I'm happy. Sometimes it's great to be so easily amused.

Two of my roomies headed off to GMU's campus to torment the freshmen w/ snowballs.
"C'mon Corri, you know you wanna come, too."
"No, really - ya'll have fun harrassing people; I'll be here."
"Don't be a dork - come with us.
"No."
A snowball fight then ensued. I was outside w/ no shoes one (yes, in the snow) and I Troy locked me out (grrr); as soon as he opened the door he got pelted w/ a snowball, and then he and Del took turns smashing me w/ snow. That's OK - I got some licks in.

Then I walked down to Safeway and picked up stuff to make hot cocoa from scratch. I noticed halfway there that I was smiling so much that my cheeks hurt. When I got back I shoveled the sidewalk in front of our house; that felt so good that I did my neighbors', too, and then cleared off my and my roomate's car.
When I got back in a made my completely outta this world cocoa and gave some to Shervan (my other roomie) before he headed out to Shopper's to get some salt. He loved it, of course. Now I'm drinking my concoction w/ creamy whipped cream on top (of course) while watching "Lord of the Rings" (because I am, after all, a dork).

I feel so great - I'm not getting any of the work I promised myself'd get done, but eh.
Later, I'm going to go out and find a good hill

I'm in Maryland...we got the snow today...actually...I TRIED to drive to work...for those of you that are familiar with the MD area...I live in Whitemarsh which is in North Eastern Baltimore County...and I work in Columbia which is in Howard County...south of where I live...it usually takes me 35 minutes to get to work...I attempted to get there...got about 1.5 miles out when I decided to turn around and go back home because the roads were just too bad...and I got stuck trying to turn around....

SO...this man and his son come out of one of the houses to help me...they get me going in the right direction....and I'm doing well...THEN I got stuck again trying to get around a car that was stuck on a hill...and an MTA bus was stuck behind me..I had to call my Dad and brohter to come and push me out....it was quite comical.

Boy was that FUN (not)...I had such a headache when I got home.

fc - I'm glad you turned around early; it seemed that a lot of people were driving overconfidently - like that dude (?) that flipped his car on 66 near the 4-95 exit.

At least you got to see how helpful people can be when they see someone in trouble (looking on the bright side).

Hey Proxieme...GMU isn't George Mason, is it? Somewhat recently, I dated someone who went there...well, if you can call it dating. An unfaithful Aries boy...

you don;t have to say, if you don;t want. it was just a thought.

Oh, and people knock me down anyway, so I might as well blend in with all the other wackos in the city and walk with my mouth open. :-)

Here I am, looking out the window at the 10 inches of snow (!!!) we got today (we were only supposed to get 1-3 inches, NYC was supposed to get more). I live on the side of the Appalachian mountain range in New Jersey, where all the ski resorts are. I don't have the words to describe how beautiful it is, especially reflecting the Christmas lights.

My little bulldog puppy, Titan, is just about 10 inches high. He peeked out the door, then ran and frolicked through the snow, jumping and diving, then running hard and sliding on his belly! I never laughed so hard!

We're going out to make snow angels now...(the puppy and I)...later!

fc - Be careful on that sheet of ice that we have laid down now; I just heard about a 6-car accident at the Springfield Interchange and a 3-car pile-up on 4-95 @ the Little River Turnpike.

Oxy - Yup, yup - George Mason, I don't mind saying. I doubt anyone's gonna track me down from that info alone (of course, that + that which is on the site...).
Dern Aries. Grrrr.

Katiebull - Ohhh, I envy you. Really, I'm green all over. We only got about 5 inches.
I was up in that area that you live in once for my step-mom's family reunion; it's much nicer than the horrible strip-mall-y part along the beaches.
And the TWPs. I love the TWPs!!!
That's like when I was in England & I was thrilled to death by the fact that there were Shires. Shires!!! As I said:
Me <------very, very easily amused

Iiiiiiiiiiii stayed up all night. I don' need no stinkin' sleep!
