I love rocks of all kinds, but in the past years I have been getting more interested in gemstones and their healing properties.Your favourite might be a precious gem, like a ruby or diamond or sapphire, or semi-precious, like turquoise, tigereye, or jade, or even an unusual rock. I am very drawn to blue tiger's eye (also called hawk's eye), agates, moonstones, labradorite, volcanic rock, and if I could afford them (ha! ), diamonds and opals, because they're full of fire. I'm also trying to learn more about stone's healing properties; here's a link to a neat site that has this kind of information. http://www.crystals.uk.net/healing-stones.html So what rocks get you off? Amber, jet, lapis lazuli, jade, carnelian, bloodstone, and moss agate.Amber and jet because they from a living source(trees). Lapis lazuli because it is reputed to be a diviner's stone. Jade because it is a strong stone and lucky. Carnelian I just like to look at and feel--probably my (red) Mars affliction. Bloodstone, green with red flecks, an old sorcerer's stone supposedly makes you invisible. Moss agate a peaceful stone. My first magical ring was made and set with this stone. Then, there are these big hollow rocks I bought years ago at a gem/rock/fossil store, I think they were called "thunder eggs(?)"? They look like big prehistoric dinosaur eggs, are hollow, and have slight cracks and an opening on one end, just like a cracked egg. I put these in my garden and when the wind blows just right, they whistle. So cool. I like fossils too, but only have one that I keep in my tarot box--guess I think it connects me with the ancients (don't ask...) IP: Logged |

hahahahaha...that was great, Rainbow.I wonder what sign Jagger is anyway. Even though he made a few mistakes and was/is flamboyant, he always seemed level-headed and a businessman--no fool with his money. (...I could be wrong, however)--am I getting off the favorite "stones" theme? IP: Logged |

Rainbow~ you're a gas, gas, gas! N_wEvil -- yep, I'd stoop to pick up several carats of carbon60, myself... moth-- I like moss agte too-- have seen some beautiful stones for sale online. One of these days I'll have to design my own ring setting. Tell us more about your magic ring! I could echo many of your choices-- I love them all. One of my favourites is a piece of flint I found in a Viking graveyard on a trip to Denmark. Oddly enough a clairvoyant told me I have a big Viking spirit guide -- maybe he came home with me way back then! And a question for the Aussies -- are opals a big deal in Australia, or are they mainly for export? Lunargirl IP: Logged |

Rainbow, you slay me I LOVE emeralds. Garnets, Amethyst, Rose Quartz, and plain ol' regular Quartz. In both their raw and polished forms. Actually, I love all crystals/gemstones, but those are my favorites. I also just love regular, run of the mill, you've seen one you've seen 'em all rocks. When I go hiking I usually end up bringing back a few interesting ones (I also have a rock and a tiny pine cone that I smuggled out of Yosemite ) and some Connemara Marble from Ireland (I've never been but people know I love it so they bring it back for me and my Mom gets me different pieces ). Hi... just discovered a new, fantastic, practically ENCYCLOPAEDIC post by jjade on the healing power of stones and crystals -- check out the Vehicle of the Soul thread at: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000281-3.html Does anyone have a cluster of crystals in the house? I used to have a wonderful piece of amethyst geode upon which I would place objects I was purifying, but I decided to give to to a special friend (the right decision! ). I do still have a citrine cluster, but my use of it is different. I prefer to choose my rocks and stones personally -- I visualize the use for which I want a stone (personal use for healing or clairvoyance work, or to give to a friend who needs encouragement or energy), and frequently get a certain feeling out of some of them, and those are the ones I choose. Does anyone else do this? cheers, Lunargirl IP: Logged |

Oh! I love them all, big and small! So many different stones have come into my life and then passed on to others that needed them more than I. But....if I MUST pick a favorite...hhmmmm...it would have to be the wonderful, watery, shimmer of an aquamarine!

My absolute favorite stone is Tanzanite. It looks like amethyst, only it is a few shades lighter depending on the cut. Also marquasite (spelling hint plese?) is very lovely. I have an Irish wedding band that has amethyst and marquasite in it. Very beautiful! But yeah, Tanzanite has to be it for me!! IP: Logged |

OK, freaky time, folks...My last post in this thread was early on the 17th. Later that day I went to visit my pal Allison in the hospital (she had a lung transplant, as mentioned in Health and Healing). Today I was shopping and found some nice loose amethyst points and clusters for sale. I've been wanting a cluster, in particular. But I went ahead and bought a point that really attracted me; little rainblow inclusions inside, with a nice single point. I argued with myself, telling myself I really didn't know why I was buying it. When the sales clerk asked if I wanted a box for it, I immediately said "Yes", then again wondered why I said that -- arguing with myself again that all I needed was a thick paper bag to protect it, but I let it be, so a box it was. Since we were visiting my friend in the hospital tonight, much later on I considered taking it to her, but thought "Naaaah!" as I hadn't had time to cleanse the crystal. Minutes after we arrive my friend asks me to help interpret this vision she's been having for the past 3 days of wearing an amethyst crystal at her neck!!!! My mouth fell open THIIIIIIISSSSS wide! I told her about my purchase and then HER jaw dropped. She started to describe it but we finished each other's sentences. Anyhow I am cleansing it as we speak and I'm bringing it over to her tomorrow. And I thought _I_ was choosing the rock... instead it was choosing _me_!!!! Lunargirl IP: Logged |

My favorite is Obsidian, also called Apache Tears. It was mostly used to make blades and arrow tips. It is one of the sharpest edge stones and when it is polished gives a clear smokey black color. It is used to allow the wearer to see deeper into people and to get to the real meaning of things. It shatters like glass so to make jewelry one must be very skilled. I finally, after a long search, found earings and a pendant made of obsidian. It has be cut into a teardrop shape, about the size of a quarter for the pendant and dimes for the earings. It is almost flawless. I also carry Apache Tears with me and have 4 stones in a pouch that had already gone through the "smudging" or cleansing ceremony. I have it hanging on my wall next to my mandala. I also have one on a chain in my car that I truely believe has offered me protection. I was in a major car accident in an area where people usually die, but I made it out with no problems and my car just needed some work. IP: Logged |
