Wanna hear my Gooberz story???? Well, I went into the bookstore to purchase it, and thought......golly, gee...that is ONE BIG BOOK!!!...*sigh*.... ...well I paid for it, and took it out into the car with me....I opened it up and was disappointed, cuz to me it looked LIKE ONE BIG POEM! ...and I thought, I'll never read a poem this long...shux...... .....so goofy me, took it back into the store, and got my money back.... ..........but shortly after, somone I know asked me if I'd read it yet, and I told her I returned the book.... ....and she said, "YOU DIDN'T?".... ........and I reassured her that I did.... ............and she told me what a mistake I'd made...."Give it a chance...it's a wonderful read....." So I went back and got the book, and I'm so happy the friend convinced me to do it, because I could not put it down once I started reading it.... .....and I shudder to think how close I came to almost depriving myself of reading one the best books I've ever read!!! Up until then, I'd already read Linda's SUN SIGNS, LOVE SIGNS, and STAR SIGNS, and felt I really knew this lady well...*sigh*.... ....but it was actually GOOBERZ that revealed to me, Linda's heart and soul.... When I finished that book...I felt as tho I'd known her forever....and was witness to all the disappointments, inspirations, revelations, joys and sorrows she's experiened in her life... Everybody who loves Linda should read Gooberz.... Luv, Rainbow~ IP: Logged |

Nothing ventured, nothing gained!! It cost me my weeks lunch money; then it worried me with reading 1079 pages of cantos and I thought, yikes, "what have I done" ? My mind was so nourished by Gooberz, I forgot all about my hungry tummy . Altho, with every reread, I do have a bag of Oreos handy juniperb IP: Logged |

Here's my very strange Gooberz story:(Please forgive my poor punctuation.) I was in a metaphysical book store in Los Angeles browsing the astrology section with my Aunt from Australia. There was a little middle eastern looking man sitting in a chair reading Love Signs. I had not yet picked up Goobers but was just about to when the man stood up and looked at me and my Aunt and introduced himself to us. I wish I could remember his name but I could not. I remember it started with an R. He shook my Aunt's hand and said, "You are a traveller." My Aunt just nodded and smiled. He looked at me and said, "You are an astrologer." "Not yet," I replied, "but I would like to be one someday." "You are going to be a famous astrologer." He said. At that point I had the weirdest feeling, almost as if I were dreaming. He then looked at me and said matter-of-factly, "Yes, Linda was a friend of mine, we went to see a movie together years ago when she was living at the Roosevelt Hotel." He smiled and bid us farewell. At that moment I felt really out of sync, like time had stopped. Either that or I had mysteriously been inhaling laughing gas from some unknown source. I would not have believed the whole thing happened except that my Aunt heard the whole conversation. It still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up when I think about it. So I bought Gooberz and to this day it has been my favorite book. I have read it 4 times and I'm really looking forward to our little group read. Every time I read it I find something that I missed the last time. Love and Light, Heidi IP: Logged |

I posted this elsewhere, can't recall precisely where, but FYI, for anyone who has to watch their pennies (and who doesn't??), you can get inexpensive copies of Gooberz on www.half.com, or on www.abebooks.com I've used both sites with great results...but I'd wait to order anything til Mercury goes direct! And what a wonderful story, hrj777! Are a famous astrologer yet? IP: Logged |

Haha ... I don't think so. My numerology says I have to avoid the limelight or I'll end up like Abe Lincoln. If I ever do become famous it will probably have to be after I die. I have no desire for any of that stuff.Heidi IP: Logged |
