(dear friends, i have been a fan of jack saturn's writings and work. he is interesting and walks on the eccentric side. he is a super cool guy who has done a lot of interesing projects, and is alive in the weird. which rocks! he has an aquarius moon enjoy and hope you like the new song on his band's cd.) dear world,
talk about your last-minute messages -- i'm leaving to go on
tour this afternoon. yes, you read correctly, and i'm writing
to let you know that i may indeed be coming to your town. as
of late i've been playing guitar for a pop band from here in
portland called the culottes, and we are heading out on the
road for a month starting today, returning on june 6th. it
has all been rather spontaneous for me, but i'm very excited.
we'll be visiting a good chunk of the united states, so if
you live in one of the lower forty-eight, take a look at our
itinerary and see if we might be coming to your area.
(http://tincansound.com/shows.php) as these things go,
locations and details change from day to day, so keep checking
back. we'll be updating from the road.
you can find out a little bit about the band and hear an
mp3 as well: (http://tincansound.com/bands/culottes.php)
we'll be touring in support of recent CDs by the culottes as
well as the "DIYinPDX" scrapbook and CD compilation, which
also features a track by yours truly under the online romance
moniker. (http://tincansound.com/DIYinPDX.php)
speaking of the online romance, i've got about thirty of these
cassettes left and then it is gone for good. they're free, so
if i'm coming to your city and you want me to save one for you,
drop me an e-mail. (http://recdel.com/products.php?recdel=008)
i'll also be playing a number of shows by myself during the
tour, most of them spontaneous. if i'm coming to your town
and you'd like me to play somewhere (laundromat, gas station
parking lot, a cornfield, your bedroom), e-mail me to say so
and we'll work something out. right now the only dates set
in stone are as follows (contact me for addresses and such):
friday, may 9th (tonight) @ "my house," eugene, oregon
sunday, may 25th @ the metronome house, leonardo, NJ
sunday, june 8th @ the handmade bazaar, portland, OR
here's where we can use your help:
- if you can send me the addresses of local papers in your
area where we can send press releases about our upcoming shows,
that would be excellent.
- if you can offer us a place to stay overnight in any city
that we're visiting, we'd much appreciate it.
- and if you're in the new york city area -- by which i mean
to include anywhere accessible via train -- drop me a line,
because i have some days off between the 24th and 28th of may
where i'll be roaming around by myself. i'm waiting on
confirmations for a few more shows as the online romance and
i'll generally be bumming around the city and outlying region.
i'm very excited to be getting out on the road after far too
long; i know i'll be seeing some of you for the first time in
forever. to those who i won't be seeing, don't fret, because
hopefully this tour will be the start of much more travelling
to come, and i hope to hit all the stops next time around.
in early june i will have some more big news for you, but feel
free to try to pry the secret out of me if we cross paths out
there in america. <cue simon & garfunkel>
here's to spring,
