I love the white and pink blossoms on Crepe Myrtle in Spring! ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

A black bird (looked like a crow) swooped down this morning and hopped over to take some bread that I put down for one of my duckies.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." This excerpt was so beautiful and animated in a way that makes you feel alive again while reading. As if it is the first day of your life again, but in a better wonderful world. i wish i found Linda Goodman's book earlier than i did...still i am glad i found them eventually. Thank you for sharing, and thanks to Linda wherever she is now for writing it in the first place. IP: Logged |

"Back home, entitled to the GI Bill of Rights, Carlson spent many hours in the University of Minnesota library, studying plant physiology. Struck by the idea that certain sound frequencies might help a plant breathe better and absorb more nutrients, he experimented with various frequencies until, with the help of an audio engineer, he found one range that was consonant with the early morning bird chirping that helps plants open wider their stomata, or mouth-like pores. On every leaf there are thousands of such small openings. Each stoma--less that 1/1000 of inch across--allows oxygen and water to pass out of the leaf, or transpire, while other gases, notably carbon dioxide, move in to be transformed by photosynthesis into sugars. During dry conditions, the stomata close to prevent a wilting plant from drying out completely." SONIC BLOOM http://dancarlsonsonicbloom.com/background.htm
(I think it's interesting to note that Dan Carlson and Cleve Backster are both Pisces.) ******************************************* Birdsong helps plants absorb more nutrients, thus grow larger and have higher yields at harvest. The birds sing at dawn because that is when the morning dew is on the leaves. Fables tell of a mythical bird, or pair of mythical birds, that live in the Garden of Eden. It is said that the sweet, magical song of this bird is the reason the Garden of Eden grew so incredibly green and lush!

We live on a cliff which makes frolicking around the yard with my 2 year-old a little nerve-racking, so I've taken my kids out hiking to nearby Hazel Hills a few times this summer. (Hazel Hills is a nut tree farm founded by Carl Weschcke, father of New Age publisher, Carl Llewellyn Weschcke.) Last time we went out to Hazel Hills, I picked up a mountain of books including a couple copies of Llewellyn's 2001 Moon Sign Book, which has an article about Sonic Bloom by Peter Tompkins, I thought you'd find interesting. Please forgive the typos...the article was a last minute addition to Llewellyn's 2001 Moon Sign Book.

There is little more I love than getting up around 3am...in San Antonio, it is still very dark, but it is the time nature starts to awaken. At my grandpa's in Indiana, much further north, when they didnt change times, the birds and the sun would start to rise around 3 am.... Still sometimes, IF I am awake, I will get up, go sit outside and listen, then go back to bed IP: Logged |
