Sounds er..lovely I just hate bugs in general (yeah, I'm such a goil <--- said in a Betty-Boop kinda way). I remember sitting by Lake Ontario watching an amazing sunset a few years ago, bragging to this gorgeous Aqua about how mosquitos had pretty much given up on me. So we wandered back to his room...I started scratching my face...and the stupid bites blew up right next to my eye. That was certainly embarrassing. Not to mention a bug once flew *into* my eye, near the same spot on the lake and I ran up to my Leo ex's room and he of course, just laughed at me while I tried to pick the pieces out. So jwhop, how's about I get one of those mesh body suit thingies that beekeepers wear?

Great description on the itching critters Jw! I always said they had to be first cousins to a flea or something Oh, trust me, I've plenty of experience with the chigger weeds. When I was a kid we'd go hiking out in the fields and pick "flowers" for my mom Bee suit?! Alright, so now we have a watermelon carrying Aqua and a bee suit wearing one!! I have a drink recipe.. My Aries bud told me about it. 1 - 12 oz. can frozen pink lemonade concentrate, thawed 3 - 12 oz. cans beer, chilled combine lemonade and beer... stir gently until blended, serve over ice. Oh yeah... the recipe he gave me said that bock, lager, pilsner or golden Mexican beers are better to use than dark beers. Don't ask why... I don't have a clue IP: Logged |

Well, I can see you probably aren't interested in tromping through the berry patch Oxy but you'll never know what you're missing when you're eating those dried out, shriveled up berries from the cold storage locker of the supermarket. You could have been treated to heavenly big, plump, juicy blackberries if you were willing to fight off a few snakes and some pesky biting critters. You can leave the beekeepers suit at home too since I don't have any chigger weed in my yard and don't allow chiggers in anyway. Even the mosquitos avoid my place since I started using them for target practice. I swear, chivalry must be dead. Can't imagine a Leo who would laugh while you were trying to extract bug parts from your eye. Least he could have done is hold your head under the faucet while you blinked the bug out. Hey Lioneye, I was rummaging around and found an apron. It looks awfully small though. Must be a new model. I couldn't get the neck straps to reach around my neck even when I adjusted it out to the last set of snaps. Probably fit you ladies though. Shame on you 1scorp. I was a mean kid but I never gave my Mom a chigger loaded chigger weed bouquet. And the proof of that is that I'm still alive. Uhhhh, get back to me after you've tried that lemonade/beer mix jwhop IP: Logged |

Oxy, we have many wild berries: raspberries, black caps, strawberries, elder berries, goose berries and blueberries. Chiggers are more welcome than the black bears that covet them I go berry picking (for jams) and carry two pots & pans to bang together to run em off. No bee suit will keep them off you. Hey 1Scorp, we`re just some cool Aquas arn`t we. juniperb IP: Logged |

I don't know... sounded pretty good to me Beating pots and pans together Juni, we need to get some of that punch or that watermelon drink you were talking about and take a walk in the woods for berries Would be hilarous! You in front beating the pans me trailing behind ... drinking. Oh, I just busted my arse IP: Logged |

Hi juniperbWhere were you when we were discussing whether bears crap in the woods--or not? You could have given some valuable guidance. It would also be helpful to know--if they do, if it's a result of being startled by berry pickers banging pots and pans together. Seems to me you're doing it the hard way. Why not just leave one of those alcohol soaked watermelons in the berry patch for the bear? 30 minutes tops and that bear will be mellow. Be kind and leave aspirin too. Yeah jennafer, a "little" salt on the watermelon makes it taste even sweeter--that is, if it was sweet before. 1scorp, sounds like your mother knows all about chigger weed too. OK, hope you'll enjoy your lemonade beer. jwhop

jwhop, I knew bears crapped in the woods cuz I`ve wore it home on my boots. What I didn`t know, is it is the results of my pot banging Bears & booze don`t mix ; a buzzed bruin is more than I want to tango with and that little pot or pan isn`t gonna shake them out. Besides, I can`t run that darn fast thru a thicket anymore ! juniperb IP: Logged |

Oh juniperb, I wouldn't recommend a tango with a bear. Far too advanced, same for the foxtrot. Maybe you should start it off with a Texas 2 step. jwhop IP: Logged |

Of course you could alway raise the stakes in the woods by "bearbagging" that loaded watermelon. Hoist it up on a line between two trees, and then you might really see some dancing, er, weaving... bears!Lunargirl IP: Logged |

Well, she ran through the briars and she ran through the brambles And she ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go. She ran so fast that the bear couldn't catch her-------- jwhop IP: Logged |

Oh jwhop, after 2 straight days of rain, the watermelons are grrrooowing big and fat. Bumper crop by the look of things Going to start chilling that bottle of vodka & buy one of them long multi-colored, glo in the dark, twisted pretzel straws. juniperb IP: Logged |

Hey juniperb, better buy 3 of those glow in the dark straws. One for you, one for me and one for the bear. So, exactly when do you calculate that watermelon flavored vodka will be ready for sampling? jwhop IP: Logged |

jwhop, the Watermelons are bigger than a basketball & juicer than juice Deep sweet pink with a crispy rind. The critters left me about a dozen to enjoy . Watermelon Almost Martini. 1 fifth vodka/gin & 1 watermelon. Scoop out melon, put in blender. Puree/juice; add vodka/gin. Blend lightly. Add vermouth if you want . Best in the purer form tho Sip thru straw and Count the stars on your way to heaven juniperb IP: Logged |

Well, you sure know how to twist the knife juniperb. I've had a couple more insipid melons since I started this thread. Think I'll just give up for the year At least someone is able to enjoy a good thing but I doubt any amount of vodka would have helped the taste of my melons. Of course after a couple of watermelon martinis, it probably wouldn't matter as much. Too bad I'm a martini purist and like them the old fashioned way----2oz of ice cold vodka and one drop of extra dry vermouth. Enjoy, juniperb jwhop IP: Logged |

jwhop, I thought the old fashioned way to make a martini is with gin. If I go that route, just one is fine. Although personally, I like my martinis a little dirty. IP: Logged |

You are right of course Oxy. The Vodka Martini is a more recent drink. There are claims that a Martini can't be made with Vodka at all http://members.tripod.com/~MrSuave/themartini.html I like both but when having more than one, prefer them made with ice cold Vodka, no ice used to dilute the mix. Guess that makes me only a Vodka Martini purist. I have a friend who is an ex bartender who puts a little of the liquid from the olive jar in too and more vermouth than I use. Good too. Is that what you mean by dirty martini? jwhop IP: Logged |

That's exactly what I meant! And I agree-the only way for me to have more than one martini and still stand on even one foot is to have vodka martinis (a.k.a. Vodkatinis).I once went to a bar and ordered a dirty martini.. Me: "Do you know how to make a dirty martini?" Bartender: *winks* "Of course." Me: "No, I mean really dirty. Extra olives, a plus!" B: "Dirty like my conscience." Me: "Perfect." juniperb-you didn't drink all of that yuorself, did you?

A bartender with a "dirty conscience", perfect. Well, my ex bartender friend was a bartender for one of the hot clubs in NY, so maybe it was him And you're right, extra olives are a plus, especially when they're big, firm and crisp. Hate limp olives. jwhop IP: Logged |
