That was not a good article, isn't it sad what we do to this world of ours. Don't people understand that we can't take everything we want, with out giving back something.IP: Logged |

lets cull some humans!come on, i'll form a line in front of that guillotine over there In all seriousness though - too many people eating fish, too many people catching fish. If they weren't fishing how would the earn a living therefore too many people. *shrug* I guess if in that case my contribution to the world means not having kids, fine

i agree with you guys its awful. the rapid overpopulation of the earth is going to do nothing good. resources cant last forever, and if we do not give back what we take we are going to be in sorry shape. thats why i havent had kids. among other reasons... but i always thought that not bearing children was a massively responsible thing of me. but then i start thinking, what if my child would be one to help change the world for the good and i am selfishly/misguidedly preventing that? oooh it makes my head hurt ------------------ where i end and you begin there's a gap in between there's a gap where we meet where i end and you begin and i'm sorry for us the dinosaurs roam the earth the sky turns green where i end and you begin i am up in the clouds i am up in the clouds and i can't and i can't come down IP: Logged |

There was a similar article recently in Smithsonian magazine...the author described how eerie it was to be so far out in the ocean, and see...nothing. No big fish. Nada. Then at one point they came upon a rogue, lost net in which some beautiful creatures were entangled.... On the lighter side, I saw a turtle crossing the highway today, so I stopped and dodged some traffic (pretty light) to get him safely into the grass.
Just a piece of the microcosm, vs. the macrocosm. IP: Logged |

I think I'll ask my local grocer to stop selling shark, for starters. It's been bothering me for a long time now.And while I never jumped on the sushi craze bandwagon, I think I'll turn in my fish ticket -- only sashimi (non-fish) for me from now on. And N_wEvil, would you please include my racist neighbour in your line-up? He yells ignorant insulting epithets at our Indian neighbours, in a big loud voice. The Mothership won't have him, he hasn't yet achieved a Darwin award, and something must be done. Lunargirl IP: Logged |
